Game Freak is the second party developer responsible for the Pokemon franchise. Game Freak was originally a fanzine fun by Satoshi Tajiri, among others. During it's early history, it developed games for various other publishers, but favored Nintendo. By the time Pokemon was released, they were a second party. Once Pokemon hit stores, they kept developing that franchise, though they have done one non-Pokemon game since then (Drill Dozer).
