Midbus is a recurring miniboss appearing throughout Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story as the main lieutenant of Fawful.
Background[edit]
Midbus was a large and strong pig-like creature, who was fiercely loyal to Fawful. He was known for speaking in broken English, with unnecessarily long names for attacks or weapons. He was Fawful's strong man during his invasion of the Mushroom Kingdom and first demonstrated his strength by easily defeating Bowser at Cavi Cape, then leaving him there due to considering him worthless.
However, Bowser soon made a move against Fawful's army while Midbus was stationed in Bowser's Castle, and Bowser fired a Banzai Bill at them. Midbus responded by activating the jets that Fawful had installed to bring the castle around to fight Bowser. Bowser was seemingly crushed, but he was soon revived with enough adrenaline to become a giant and defeated his own flying castle. After Bowser arrived at the castle, Fawful forced him to battle Midbus as entertainment. This time, Bowser was able to defeat Midbus.
He later confronted Mario and Luigi when they arrived at Princess Peach's castle. Although he refused to battle them directly, he brought a trash monster named the Junker to life with Fawful's technology to battle them. Midbus then stayed at Fawful's side while he extracted power from Princess Peach for the Dark Star. When Bowser arrived, Midbus challenged him again and this time received new blizzard powers from Fawful's gun. Blizzard Midbus battled valiantly, but was ultimately defeated. After the battle, his tragic fate unfolded in an overly dramatic manner as his entire body froze in ice, leaving only his head exposed with eyes widened and a steady stream of icy mist exhaling from his nose.
Trivia[edit]
- His name is a pun on "midboss", which of course is his basic role in the game. His Japanese name is the similar "Metabosu", which means "Metaboss".
