Overview
The Halloween Haunter is the first installment of the Holiday Goers, a spin-off of the Party Goers series. It was the first of the spin-offs to feature a "Goers" title which would later become more commonplace in Party Goers-related OGs. It is followed by Holiday Goers: Bane of Turkey's Existence.
Plot Summary
The Party Goers (Golem, Rhyk, Flutter, Sapphire, Yoshiman and Mr. Predict) prepare to go trick-or-treating on Halloween. In a nearby ice cream shop, Magikoopa and Meowth test out a device they bought off of eBay, which could bring a Pokemon from the Game Boy games to life. They used it to revive a Haunter. However, shortly afterwards both Magikoopa and Meowth were killed in a freak ice cream accident. Magikoopa and Meowth then became ghosts and had fun pulling pranks on the Party Goers with their ghost powers.
However, the Devil (shown to Sean Polinski, editor of the English version of the Tenchi Muyo anime) soon pulls Magikoopa and Meowth's ghost away for eternal damnation. By crafting a scheme more wicked then Polinski, Magikoopa is granted a favor. He demands the Polinski let the two of them remain as ghosts and bring them back to life at the end of the OG. Polinski agrees to this, but throws in a catch in that if any of their bodies comes into contact with peppermint ice cream, they would be brought back to life.
Magikoopa and Meowth's ghosts oversee their own funeral, but are distressed when they see the mourners have brought offerings of peppermint ice cream. In desperation, they summon Dittojuice, seemingly the same as Ditto McCloaker in order to convert the ice cream to a different flavor. But Dittojuice has his own agenda and, after causing some havoc, kidnaps Sapphire. In the meantime Masamune has a confrontation with a crocodile and Parasol Waddle Dee attempts to get some explosives.
At that point Magikoopa, Meowth and Haunter begin possessing random people and objects in order to lead the Party Goers to Ditto's lair in the semi-underworld. They also have a confrontation with Pluto, lord of the semi-underworld. Ditto eventually uses a Sapphire clone to lure them into his lair. Ditto reveals his plan to capture the Halloween Haunter and use it to seperate all the Party Goers' souls from their bodies, so no one could interrupt Ditto's own trick-or-treating. But they soon find Ditto is not his ordinary self, and has been possessed by an evil Ditto Pokemon.
The evil Ditto Pokemon is washed away in a shower of ice cream, and the real Ditto is restored. Ditto notices that it is Friday the 13th so he tries to throw a party, but no one comes. The Party Goers find they do not have the real Vorpal but Pluto in disguise. The real Vorpal is trapped in the semi-underworld, where a minion takes his sword and causes trouble as Muerto. However, this subplot is then completely forgotten and Vorpal is later with the rest of the group as if nothing happened.
The group somehow winds up in Indianapolis. There Masamune takes on Vorpal in a Pokemon battle. Soon afterwards, the Haunter begins to go crazy due to a flaw in the device used to bring it to life. It begins attacking Indianapolis with an army of ghost Pokemon, and the Party Goers all use their own Pokemon to fend them off. However, Ghastly, Haunter and Gengar later absorb the Party Goers' life energy with an anvil to assume their true forms- George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Abraham Lincoln.
The ghosts of the Party Goers, Magikoopa and Meowth then wind up at the Pearly Gates of Heaven for judgement. However, Oddball Mario saves the day by using to revive all of their bodies. He is unable to revive Magikoopa in time. Parasol Waddle Dee then accidentally drops some peppermint ice cream on Magikoopa's body, causing his ghost to be snatched away just as it inexplicably entered Heaven.
With the story ended, several Party Goers continue bantering until a wise janitor warns them about the dangers of remaining at an OG after hours.
Quotes
Rhyk: How did you do that?
Flutter: Do what?
Golem: Pop up like that.
Flutter: Oh that I had to do something on Halloween. There had to be a full moon, you have to go to mystery cave, make a circle of ashes, and chant these words: Eiki eki pandoo zowery!
Meowth: Didn't you see the movie "Beetlejuice"?!
Haunter: Yeah! what's-his-name tries to... wait, what happened?
Meowth: Something something... tried to take her as a bride... something. well, I forgot.
MagiKoopa: Oh, what the heck! They all won in the end, right?
Golem: Hey! how'd youget here?
Oddball Mario: That's not the point right now.
Golem: then what is?
Oddball Mario: Just shut up OK? I'm tried of just standing off to your stories. Now I wanna be in it. GOT THAT!
Vorpal: Wait who am I?
Golem: You're the real Slim Shady!
Vorpal: (slaps Golem) SHUT UP! I thought I was Pluto, Lord of the Semi-underworld!
Ditto: You may be a king or a lowly street sweeper, but sooner or later you all dance with the Reaper! Hahaha! *whips out a frightening scythe, and begins whirling it around, floating towards the fallen Vorpal...*
Mr P: So what's the next brillant idea?
Ditto: Chugging contest!
YM: Only Mr. Predict is legal.
Everyone: Hmmmmm...
Vorpal: Hey! You don't have to carry me, I've got a Scyther. Stryke! Go!
Stryke: Scyther!
Saph: You named your Scyther after yourself.
Vorpal: Actually, I named myself after my Scyther.
Saph: Huh?
Vorpal: Never mind.
