The Vorpal Sword is Vorpal's sword. It was forged a long time ago in ancient Japan by an evil swordsmith named Warupei. Warupei forged the sword and enclosed a demon named Vorpal (despite the Japanese not having a "v" sound in their language) which made it the second most evil sword in the world. (And it will always remain the second most evil sword in the world even if an eviler sword is forged at a later time.)
The Vorpal Sword, being possessed by the Vorpal demon, has many properties when wielded by someone. It has no power if it does not have a host. A weak host will succumb to the Vorpal demon, and become controlled by it, as Vorpal was early in his OG career. The Vorpal Sword also grants super strength, and master sword fighting skills to the wielder. The Vorpal Sword can also burst into flames at the will of the wielder.
The Vorpal Sword has weird reactions with other magical swords. If someone wields more than one magical sword, the power of the swords will combine, usually resulting in the creation of some monster, such as Vorpamune or Vorpasame. This, however, may be due to the unique properties of the Masamune and Murasame Swords that causes the powerful reaction with the demon-cursed Vorpal Sword.
The Vorpal Sword has been playing less and less of a role in Vorpal's character. The demon has all been but been forgotten, and Vorpal now carries his sword around in a trombone case to better blend in with normal folks.
Vorpal is known as "Vorpal the 64th" because he is the 64th wielder of the Vorpal Sword. He hasn't used that title in a long time, because his creator has been trying to drop it for a long time. There have been many other wielders of the Vorpal Sword after Vorpal, and so it's unclear as to whether Vorpal is still the 64th, or if he's some other number like the 73rd or something.
