Overview[edit]
Golem is about to play his old NES when he gets sucked into the Mario World. Wacky hijinks ensue! This story is the beginning of the Some Fanventures trilogy that was very loosely associated with the original series. The cast of characters was a mix of author characters, video game characters, and story-specific character.
Plot Summary[edit]
It begins as Golem is suddenly dumped into the fortress of Super Mario Bros., right in the middle of a confrontation with Bowser. He is soon joined by GM, Thrakun and Marin. Golem unintentionally reveals the security flaw in Bowser's bridge, which he promptly corrects in all of the fortresses (resulting in Mario's death in the first fortress, though he is later revealed to have survived via a 1-Up). The Gang is then rounded up an imprisoned, but they escape through a tunnel dug by Thrakun.
The tunnel winds up taking them to Tourian in the Metroid universe. They are only there briefly, as the planet's explosion leads them to escape back through the tunnel to Bowser's castle. However, before leaving they gain their newest and most invaluable ally in the form of Podley. They then try tossing Bowser into the same tunnel, but they accidentally toss in the disguised Bowser102 instead. Mario and Luigi then travel into the tunnel on accident, but that plot is not picked up until the next OG. Bowser then escapes with Princess Peach into another warp pipe, and The Gang follows; they wind up in the world of Zelda, based on the world Zelda.
Following Thrakun and Podley's destruction of a Hyrulian village, they wind up in a battle with Ganon and his minions, and meeting with Link, who has become Hyrule Harrier. Ganon succeeds in stealing the Triforce of Wisdom from Princess Zelda, at which he point he learns of the existence of the third piece and begins seeking a way to get the Triforce of Courage. The Gang then travels through the palaces of Zelda II, while the obnoxious Zelda with Hyrule Harrier acting as their rivals. Along the way Mario Jr. enters the fray several times due to changes in the time continuum, everyone gets new items and GM becomes a were-fairy.
But in the end Ganon winds up reaching the temple first and claims the Triforce of Courage after The Gang unlocks the temple's entrance. Afterwards it jumps to The Gang making an attempt to attack Ganon's castle in Scooby-Doo fashion that ultimately fails. Bowser then returns to help them for some reason, but then Ganon and Peach fall in love. This causes Ganon to call off his conquering of Hyrule when he realizes that love was all he wanted all along, then banishes Bowser to a Game World to be decided later. Zelda then forces all the Fanvers to get back into the nearest Warp Pipe and has it nailed shut to keep more intruders out. With Hyrule at peace, Zelda no longer has need to pretend to like Link and dismisses Hyrule Harrier, who leaves with the Fanvers.
Games Visited[edit]
- Super Mario Bros.
- Super Metroid
- The Legend of Zelda (Cartoon)/Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
Trivia[edit]
- While imprisoned, Golem mentions that they can't simply use a control panel inside the cell to escape. This is a reference to Galaxy Goers where it was a recurring gag how everyone escaped jail cells using control panels.
- Since Marin is the daughter of Mario and Peach (despite somehow being in the present full grown), she has a personal stake in GM's flirtatious attitude towards Peach. However the fact Mario dies barely phases her.
- Thrakun's first OG Appearance.
- When they're in the Legend of Zelda world, they're actually in the cartoon version of the series rather than the actual game. Because the show predated The Adventure of Link, not even Ganon seemed to know about the Triforce of Courage.
- Each of the gang gets an item from the dungeons in The Adventure of Link. Marin gets the Candle, Golem gets the Handy Gloves, MJ gets the Raft, Thrakun gets the Magic Boots, Podley gets the whistle, and GM gets the Cross.
Quotes[edit]
MJ: *anxiously grabs note* Let's see... aha. "Hello Bob, Sorry about your wife. I never had any idea she was just an Ache in disguise. That's pretty low down if you ask me, aches going around disguised as women! Anyways, I want you to let the person who delivers this letter head into the mountains across your bridge. Not sure why, but I felt that it's my destiny or something. Yours Truly, Bagu."
Golem: Maybe his wife was a head ACHE. Haha, get it?
Golem: Not entirely! I found out the criminal's true identity! That's right, it's none other than... (pulls Ganon's hood down) Ganon! I suspected this when I read a book saying "Ganon is an evil-ass dude seeking the pieces of the Triforce." So he did whatever he did to get this Triforce and keep us off his trail!
Ganon: And I would've gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling smelly nerds- wait, I already did get away with it! Who the hell do you think you are?
