Author Characters

GORE-ILLA is mostly associated with the following characters, among others.

OGing History

GORE-ILLA initially discovered VGF through the soon-to-be-defunct Nintendoland in 2001, registering at the forums in the April of that year. The name "GORE-ILLA" was whipped up on the spot when all of his other name ideas were taken (I think most of them had Kong or such in them). He at first had been attracted to the Battlefield and posted in a topic for cyborg-only characters. For that topic GORE described his character as a robot gorilla with inspiration of the Terminator.

However, he soon found the OG Board and fell in love. One of the first OGs he read through was the epic Paper Mario 2. By the time he finished reading, the party was already overcrowded, and the OG's fathers were on the verge of abandoning it. GORE had attempted to apply his character as a villain, being a hero whom had been turned villainous by the evil fog Bowser had spread throughout the land in the OG. GORE continued to think more on his character and past, trying to connect all his appearances together. He also read through the Rocketsville OGs, but is not sure if he read them all. He posted in one dormant one.

Eventually he also came to the Party Goers. He had tried to read up on previous ones first, but all he wound up reading was the first few pages of Party Goers 15: A New Beginning. He then entered the series on Party Goers 17: A Party, A Party, Who's Got a Party?. His character was presented as evil still, with the explanation that he probably never got around to even hinting at being that after Paper Mario 2 went unresolved, GORE's good and evil sides split apart and battled each other, with the evil GORE killing the good one. The good GORE would eventually appear in the afterlife of the OG. This idea would later be revisited with Dark GORE in the Member OG series. In this OG he also introduced several other concepts he would revisit later, such as the Flying Monkey battleship. The sea monkeys were also part of his thing at the time.

Despite his hopes to be a Party Goer, that died when VGF encountered a server crash in January 2002. With all of the old OGs gone-zo, GORE was outraged and underwent a self-exile from VGF for most of the following year. He devoted the time to his own short stories, but he soon began to miss VGF and wondered if the Party Goers had regenerated. So he returned to VGF near the end of 2002. He noted that absence of the Party Goers of old, but while looking through old topics he discovered a link to the forums they had exodused to, the Gamehiker Forums. GORE did not think he was ready yet, although he did start to ready through the Party Goers OGs that were archived on Super Mario Bros. HQ.

In January 2003, GORE would become part of a different major series when he posted in the then-new Member OG. Although he was still a bit, noobish, his writing evolved as the series progressed. There he made his own group of friends among the posters in the OG, although most left the OGs eventually. During the first Member OG, he finally registered at the Gamehiker Forums. Although he was disappointed when he saw that the Party Goers weren't on Party Goers 25 or something, he did post a link to Member OG that attracted Golem's return to VGF, and he would begin posting in the sequels. At Gamehikers, GORE was a noob again, earning him the wrath of Nintenfreak. GORE stuck with the OGs throughout the flame wars, dead periods and attempted revivals, although he was usually irked by having to retcon or redo parts of the series. In later 2003, he became the second OG Board Mod working alongside Yami Yoshi, his friend and the creator of the Member OG. He also began talking to the other authors on AIM and forming chats originally to talk about the OGs, but eventually they became about whatever.

However, things became progressively worse at VGF, especially after Yami was demodded for a crime he did not commit. Member OG 6: VGF Moon became their last OG at VGF, and after its completion, GORE resigned as OG Mod and left VGF to good, with the MOGers setting up camp on Gamehiker's. However, the only remaining Member OG posters on Gamehiker's were Yami, Golem, Fred, AaronGuy and GORE, with Luiigii joining in later on. But most of the time the only posters were the first three, with GORE posting less in the later OGs when he was losing interest due to the combinations of newer and fresher OGs with confusion as to what was going on in the series and where it was going.

GORE became involved with various other OGs at Gamehikers. First in the Gamehiker Member OG series that started in late 2004 and kicked off in 2005, which was started and later disowned by Yami Yoshi. GORE enjoyed the humorous and light-hearted atmosphere of the OGs, as well as the opportunity to work with more of the former Party Goers crew. As he grew more into the Gamehiker community, he eventually became a moderator and several years later an administrator, while upholding a rivalry with Luigi of the Pipes and becoming a contributor to the Gamehiker Encycopedia. He also attempted to start his own series after a Gamehiker server crash when they temporarily shared the boards with Legends Alliance. GORE started The OGers: Third Generation in an attempt to draw in LA writers, but the only newcomer who stayed was SteveT, and so the OG instead was written primarily by OGing veterans. Even at this point in 2008 the first OG has not yet ended, although it has slowly inched towards a conclusion when it's posted in every few months. Then in May 2005, he became a founding member of the Golden Cheesecake Pirate Armada, a group formed by his friends. They did make regular-style OGs on their MySpace group, but the real meat and potatoes came from stories formed in chaotic chatrooms, which now that I think about it are kinda like RP logs. He kept the GCPA a secret from the Gamehiker community until the first OG was completed. Unfortunately, his attempts to coerce his best friends into joining the Gamehiker community (or at least writing regularly for the GCPA) has failed.

Member OG 10 ended in May 2006, with GORE only having made a handful of posts for it, although it did include the beginning post and the epilogue. It wasn't until he reread it years later that he had any idea what was going on. He also had a bit of a falling out with his former chum Yami Yoshi Yoshi, after he was GFCized and became cynical about OGs based on Author Characters and video games while randomly bashing the Party Goers, eventually leaving behind the Gamehiker OGs completely and basically the Gamehiker Forums themselves. It was around this time where GORE's laziness started to kick in, and basically he would go through periods of inactivity and then eventually get inspired and post in several OGs. At other periods, he would only be active in either the Gamehiker OGs, the GCPA or the Gamehiker Encyclopedia, favoring one while ignoring the others. He also eventually started a successful OG that formed a series, Gamehiker High University, based on another wild chat night.

In high school, he majored in TV Production for junior and senior years, with his school having advanced filming technology. Various stuff listed below were made during his two years in the class. Naturally he often thought of ways to sneak in OG references. Probably the biggest so far was the inclusion of a character based on Kester in one skit. There was also a GCPA feature that was planned to be a whole epic, but it is uncertain if it will air in future 411s because underclassmen are stupid and easily confused but he's considering at least filming the rest of the series in school for internet access. He also has hopes to include a big OG character at one point in the 411. In other recent developments, he also joined with Masamune and Luigi in his first real RPing experience, [community.livejournal.com/subspace_world the Subspace RPG].

Traits

Aside from being better than Luigi of the Pipes, GORE is also a staff member at Gamehiker. He also co-founded the Golden Cheesecake Pirate Armada with his high school friends and is a big comic book fan, especially of Batman. Some figures call him obsessed, and they would probably be proven right if they were to see his secret Bat-related projects.

Recurring Themes

  • Seems to often wind up using wild plot twists, insane revelations and the "hidden past" thing for nearly all his characters, and even some that aren't his own.
  • Often ends posts with cliffhangers, especially likes ones that pit all odds against the hero(es), although that may make it hard for the next poster.
  • During Member OG 3 he wrote a battle set near a volcano. He then endeavored to make battles involving lava (usually with the villain falling in) at least once in each MOG, even including one in Member OG: Special Edition. Don't think he did them all though.
  • Likes use of foreshadowing/dramatic irony as well as continuity references/throwbacks to previous OGs (aka "fanboy moments").
  • Makes typoes every other sentence. Doesn't make salad.
  • Is leet [1]

Filmography

TV Production (Sour Grapes Studios)

  • Payback
    • In the first of the silent movies, GORE portrays a nerd in a take on Revenge of the Nerds. Is cool because he wears a cape at one point.
  • The Lumberjack Games
    • Directed and idea conceived by GORE-ILLA. Involves Darren (also known as the GCPA member Mini-Myself) and Meyer as competing lumberjacks. At one point a Vorpal reference was planned by describing Meyer as being "ten Darrens tall" but it was cut.
  • Cameo appearances in the other silent movies: The Imaginary Grand Prix (the best of the silent movies), Freshman Guide to High Tech and You're Next.
  • The John Murro Show
    • Host of the uncreatively-titled futuristic talk show. Was a time-traveling talk show with guests OJ Simpson and Al Capone, musical guest Guzennius the Clarinetist. Also appearances by Kryptonian criminals from the Phantom Zone and an OG character is briefly mentioned.
  • Filled a role in all talk shows; as Mr. Softee in the one at the center of the Earth, as sous-chef Liam in the caveman talk show, as Napoleon Dynamite's Clone in California Nation, and as OJ Simpson the Magician in Chit Chat Con Emilio Jackson.
  • Conceived the idea of Mechanical Ape music video and resumed GCPA role as Que Pasa. Tried to stick another OG referance in it but couldn't find a brown scarf in time.
  • Junior 411 (June 2007):
    • Starred in commercial for "Star Wars: Call of the Jedi" (movie filmed in a summer class that I otherwise was not involved with)
  • First Senior 411 (October 2007):
    • Worked on the new teachers segment and wrote dialogue.
  • Halloween 411 (October 2007):
    • Starred in and wrote "In Search of..." segment (contains OG references in the form of a character based on Kester and a brief mention of another OG character).
  • 411 Express (weekly 411 news program):
    • Hosted Christmas episode.
  • Christmas 411 (December 2007):
    • Produced, directed and starred in Episode 1 of Golden Cheesecake Pirate Armada, ultimately only a trailer was released in Christmas 411 due to time constraints.
