Background

Kyson's background has been left mysterious to make other writers weep. What is known is that some ten years prior to the story, Kyson had been traveling in Truvia when he encountered Zimon Gorenicusto and had his left arm sliced off. Since then he has become a monk, specializing in multiple schools to give himself an advantage that had otherwise been lost along with his limb.

His most recent school of study had been in the mountains above Eldonsorth, which had also been home to one of Vizier Hal'amek's laboratories. He stumbled upon this lab one day and saw a girl being fused with magic well beyond her physical bounds. He was then discovered by a fellow monk and forced to flee the school, pursued by his former peers.

Making his way across the ocean, Kyson arrived in Osmira, though he could not afford passage across the desert as well. He was approached by Giuseppe, who directed Kyson's attention to Imajin's caravan and promised him a safe crossing so long as he kept the merchant occupied. Kyson was in fact completely oblivious to Giuseppe's plan to steal Imajin's gold, which worked to his advantage when he became a prime suspect.
