It is a kingdom with a long and rich history that is deeply connected to the [[Golden Goddesses]] and the [[Triforce]] that they left behind. It has contained the hidden entrance to the [[Sacred Realm]] and is where the [[Master Sword]] has rested. 

Within the alternate timeline produced by the ending of ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time|Ocarina of Time]]'', Hyrule was later destroyed by a great flood, but a [[new Hyrule]] was later founded by [[Tetra]]. Hyrule's geography has differed from game to game, but several landmarks such as [[Death Mountain]] and [[Lake Hylia]] have acted as constant landmarks. The upcoming game ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword|Skyward Sword]]'' seems to focus on Hyrule's early history and its connection with the mysterious sky world [[Skyloft]].
