'''Booster''' is a character from ''[[Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars]]'' and its [[Super Mario RPG (Switch)|Switch remake]] who acted as a comical antagonist and optional boss.

=Background=

Little was known of Booster's background, except that a row of portraits of his ancestors indicated that he was the seventh of his name. Booster was an eccentric, childish man who lived within Booster Tower. He was prone to misunderstandings and was unfamiliar with many concepts that were considered to be common knowledge, such as parties and tears. He also had a tendency to watch others silently from the other side of a door or behind walls. Booster was known for his love of trains, toys and beetles. He worked on model trains and would ride them around the mansion. He was often accompanied by Snifsters #1-3, loyal [[Snifit]] subordinates who had earned a promotion in his ranks. They acted as his friends, and he sent them off on various errands, such as catching beetles for him. Booster also appeared to be friends with [[Characters in Super Mario RPG|Knife Guy]] and [[Characters in Super Mario RPG|Grate Guy]], who hung around his tower.

During the events of ''Super Mario RPG'', [[Peach|Princess Peach]] landed on his balcony after she was sent flying from Bowser's Keep in the beginning of the game. Booster instantly fell in love with her, considering her to be a princess who fell from the sky to become his bride. He began planning their marriage despite her protests, while keeping her locked out on the balcony. [[Mario]] eventually came to the tower looking for Peach. Booster observed him as he progressed through the tower and had his minions try to stop Mario. In some cases, he addressed Mario himself and once dropped a bunch of [[Bob-omb]]s around Mario in an attempt to stop him. Later on, Booster tried to rehearse the marriage with the Snifters using toys, only to find that the toy of Mario was missing. He had his Snifsters search the room for the toy, unaware that the real Mario was hiding in the curtains. If the Snifsters found Mario, Booster would engage Mario in battle. Otherwise, Mario would be discovered when Booster aided the Snifits in their search, and at that moment his jump would reveal the hiding place of the Mario doll, causing Booster to thank Mario rather than attack him. In the latter scenario Booster would also reward Mario with an Amulet.

Afterwards, Booster went onto the balcony and somehow absconded with Peach before Mario stepped out onto the balcony, leaving Knife Guy and Grate Guy behind to distract Mario by battling him. Mario continued to pursue Booster and Peach up an inclined area known as Booster Hill. Although Mario could make contact with Peach and receive a Flower, ultimately Booster successfully escaped Mario's grasp. Arriving in Marrymore, Booster and his Snifsters locked themselves in the chapel after kicking out the current wedding party and prepared for the marriage with Peach. Mario and his companions made their way in, briefly causing a commotion in which Peach dropped her items, which needed to be returned to her. Afterwards, Peach wanted to reward Mario with a kiss, and one of several scenarios occurred, some of which involved Booster (Booster accidentally kissing Mario or Bowser, or Booster and Bowser both accidentally kissing Mario). Booster decided to call off the wedding, but this upset Chef Torte, who proceeded to battle Mario alongside the living cake [[Bundt]]. Booster appeared at the end of the battle and finished off what remained of the cake in one gulp. Content with the pastry, Booster decided to let Peach go and return to his castle.

Afterwards, Booster returned to his tower and hoped that another woman would fall from the heavens for him. This eventually did come to pass, with the other woman being [[Valentina]], who had attempted to usurp the throne of Nimbus Land. Valentina seemed more receptive to being with Booster, but Booster seemed to be put off by how close she was getting to him. The two of them were seen getting married in the ending, although it was unclear if the marriage was actually carried out, or if Booster was fleeing from it. Booster also appeared in the ending parade, where he was seen riding his train as a parade float, but he abandoned it to follow his Snifsters who were chasing beetles. The next time he appeared onscreen, Booster had somehow hijacked the [[Koopa Clown Car]] and was being chased by a furious [[Bowser]].

The Switch version added an extra scenario that was unlocked in the post-game, but chronologically took place during the game's main story. At his room in Booster Tower, Booster had finished his latest train model, known as Engine 023. He had made a wish wanting to show it off and would engage Mario's group in a battle to do so. During the battle, he would constantly work on tweaking the train and preparing to show it off, which would be an attack powerful enough to wipe out the entire party. However, he was easily distracted from this, despite the Snifsters' attempts to increase his focus. After being defeated, Booster realized that he had forgotten to put one part in the train. He decided to give the part, Stella 023, to [[Geno]], as Booster had just become aware of his existence and was fascinated by the living toy. His Star Hill wish changed into a reflection of his appreciation of Geno.

Booster was much more powerful than he looked. This was partly due to his deadly special attacks, which included Loco Attack (which showcased Booster's love of trains) and the Spritz Bomb. Booster could also summon Snifsters 1-3 to aid him. Booster had Special Defenses against Sleep, but was weak against Jump attacks.

In the rematch in the Switch version, Booster had the same resistances and weaknesses. He will try to work on his train throughout the battle, and his Snifsters will try to make him work faster so that he will attack in one turn. If he attacks with Engine 023, it will cause 9999 damage to everyone on the field, instantly knocking them out. If Booster is attacked at all before finishing his work, he will lost his concentration and start over with working on the train.

=Trivia=

*His Japanese name is Bukkii, which may come from one of several Japanese words: "bukiryo", meaning ugly, "bukiyo", meaning clumsy, or "bukkirabo", meaning blunt.
*Booster has some similarities with [[Wario]], as they both have dwarfish appearances, pink noses and eccentric noses, in addition to both employing bombs as weapons. One of Booster's ancestors is also seen wearing a yellow cap. He has also been noted to have a physical similarity to Cid from ''Final Fantasy IV''.
*His Monster List entry in the Switch remake says that his expenses have run thin due to 'mounting expenses for his tower and train maintenance', so he could not afford to fix the tower's front door after it was broken by Bowser, and the door was apparently marked 'do not fix'.
*The Monster List entry for Engine 023 Booster says that he raised funds for Engine 023 by selling his favorite game to a boy in the [[Mushroom Kingdom]] for 100 coins. This implies that he was the original owner of the Beetle Mania game being played by a child in Mushroom Kingdom, which makes sense given his love of beetles. This also indicates that he was working on Engine 023 since the beginning of the game, as the boy was seen playing the game when Mario first came to Mushroom Kingdom early in the game.
