'''Ingo''' is a recurring character from the ''[[Portal: The Legend of Zelda|Legend of Zelda]]'' series. He originally appeared in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time|Ocarina of Time]]'' as a cowhand who grew corrupt and acted as the antagonist of a sidquest. He also appeared in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons|Oracle of Seasons]]'' with a different occupation. Both versions of Ingo are known for their cranky dispositions.

=Background=

==Ocarina of Time==

In ''Ocarina of Time'', Ingo was a cowhand working for [[Talon]] at [[Lon Lon Ranch]]. However, Ingo was jealous of Talon. He dismissed Talon as being too lazy, and he felt that he deserved to own the ranch instead because of all the hard work he did. Ingo eventually got his chance sometime during the seven years in which [[Ganondorf]] came into power.

During this time period, Ingo took over Lon Lon Ranch and kicked Talon out. He also forced Talon's daughter, [[Malon]], to stay by threatening to hurt the horses that she cared for. Ingo's strict control over the ranch came to an end when [[Link]] challenged him to a pair of horse races. Ingo was so confident in his horse-riding abilities that during the second match, he bet [[Epona|a horse]] that he was preparing to sell to Ganondorf. Ingo lost this match, and despite his efforts to stop him, Link was able to escape with Epona.

Talon soon regained control of Lon Lon Ranch, and Ingo was returned to his old job. His disposition seemed to shift to being humble and grateful for his job afterwards. Despite Ingo's previous loathing of Talon, the two were seen drunkenly dancing together during the celebration at Lon Lon Ranch in the game's ending.

==Other Games==

In ''Oracle of Seasons'', Ingo was a wealthy vase collector living in [[Sunken City]]. Ingo would freak out if anyone went near his vases. When Link entered Ingo's shop with the [[Goron Vase]], Ingo went berserk with envy for the vase, as he felt that it would end his collection. In the end, Ingo traded a fish for the vase.

Although never named, a character in ''[[Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland]]'' resembling Ingo was the head rancher of Lon Lon Meadow. He was a rather eccentric fellow who created the Lon Lon Ketchup recipe, but accidentally fed the recipe to his cows. [[Tingle]] was able to get it back for him while killing his apparently endless supply of cows, but Ingo had already written a second copy to prevent his wife from finding out, and he allowed Tingle to keep the original.

In ''[[The Legend of Zelda: Link Between Worlds|Link Between Worlds]]'', an unnamed Milk Bar Owner appeared who looked identical to Ingo. He ran the Milk Bar at [[Thieves Town]] in [[Lorule]] and hated the rush of customers that came to his bar to take refuge from monsters. He actively encouraged customers to leave and wished that he could just drink milk alone. He acted as the Lorule counterpart of Hyrule's more kindly Milk Bar Owner, who resembled Talon.

==Other Media==

*He appears in the manga adaptation of ''Ocarina of Time''. He is a first briefly seen in the child chapter in a scene that establishes his role at the ranch. He has a larger role in one of the adult chapters, where he is shown working directly under Ganondorf, and after Epona is given to Link by the people of Kakariko Village, Ingo is placed under Twinrova's mind control. Under this influence, he takes Malon hostage and lures Link into a [[Gerudo]] trap. Link is able to free Ingo from this mind control, and Ingo later escapes the ranch with Link and Malon, after which the ranch returned to normal.
*He is also briefly referenced in the ''Majora's Mask'' manga, where Link confuses Gorman with Ingo.

*Ingo is based on [[Luigi]] in the same way that [[Talon]] is based on [[Mario]].
*He has three [[Termina|Terminan]] counterparts in the form of the identical [[Gorman]] brothers, one of whom also made an appearance in [[Hyrule]] in ''[[The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap|The Minish Cap]]''.
*[[Shigeru Miyamoto]] has stated that he originally planned for Ingo to burn the ranch down after losing to Link to make Link's escape with Epona dramatic, but this idea was changed into Ingo merely closing off the ranch when a peer pointed out that Link should still be able to return to the ranch later [http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/3ds/zelda-ocarina-of-time/4/2].
*He commonly wears green and sometimes pink in his wardrobe across his incarnations. The green is in reference to Luigi and is also worn by his Milk Bar Owner incarnation.
