'''Magneton''' is a Pokémon introduced in the first generation games. It is the the evolved form of [[Magnemite]] that is actually three Magnemite attached together. It was considered to be Magnemite's final form until the fourth generation games, when [[Magnezone]] was introduced as its evolved form.

=Information=

Magneton evolves from Magnemite at Level 30. At this point, three Magnemite link together through a strong magnetic force which is powerful enough to dry all moisture in its vicinities. They emit a powerful magnetic force that is fatal to many electrical devices, which is why trainers are usually advised to keep Magneton in their Pokéballs at all times, and large cities use sirens to advise people of Magneton outbreaks. They also generate powerful radio signals which raise temperatures by 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit within a 3,300 feet radius.

Magneton frequently appear when sunspots flare up. Other inconveniences they cause include earaches when people get too close to them and disruptions of radio waves when they gather together in large numbers, causing a magnetic storm. It is still a powerful electric Pokémon that can discharge powerful magnetic waves at high voltage.

Magneton can only involve under Magnezone in special conditions. It evolves only after leveling up in one of several unique areas, the only two being known are Mt. Coronet in Sinnoh (in ''[[Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl Versions|Diamond, Pearl]]'' and ''[[PokémonChargestone Cave in Unova (in ''[[Pokémon: Black and White Versions|Black and White]]'').

In ''[[Pokémon: Red, Green and Blue Versions|Pokémon: Red, Blue]]'', ''[[Pokémon: Yellow Version|Yellow]]'', ''[[Pokémon: FireRed and LeafGreen Versions|FireRed and LeafGreen]]'', Magneton could be found at the Power Plant. In all except ''Yellow'', they also appeared at Cerulean Cave. In ''[[Pokémon: Crystal Version|Crystal]]'', ''[[Pokémon: HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions|HeartGold and SoulSilver]]'', it could be obtained by trading a [[Dugtrio]] to someone at the Power Plant. In ''HeartGold''/''SoulSilver'', they also appeared at the Safari Zone's Peak and Mountain areas as well as in Cerulean Cave.

In ''[[Pokémon: Ruby and Sapphire Versions|Ruby, Sapphire]]'' and ''[[Pokémon: Emerald Version|Emerald]]'', Magneton could be found at New Mauville. In ''[[Pokémon: Platinum Version|Platinum]]'', they appeared at Route 222 and Victory Road.

It could only be obtained through evolution in ''[[Pokémon Pinball]]'' as well as ''[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams]]''. In ''[[Pokémon Snap]]'', the player can cause three Magnemite to combine and evolve into a Magneton by using items to lure them close enough together within the Tunnel area. It was also present in ''[[Pokémon Puzzle League]]'' as part of [[Lieutenant Surge]]'s roster. A Shadow Magneton could be snagged from Cipher Peon Snidle at Cipher Key Lair in ''[[Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness]]''. After being purified, this Magneton could be transferred to any of the third generation color versions.

In ''[[Pokémon Trozei!]]'', it was found at Huge Storage 2, Endless Level 21, Forever Level 21 and Mr. Who's Den. Within ''[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness]]'', Magneton could be recruited at the first forty-nine floors of Sky Stairway. In ''[[Pokémon Ranger]]'', the appeared at Krokka Tunnel, Waterworks and Dusk Factory. In ''[[Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia]]'', Magneton could be found at Oil Field Hideout, Haruba Desert, [[Hippowdon]] Temple, [[Altru]] Building and Altru Tower. In ''[[Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs]]'', they appeared at Oblivia Ruins, Layuda Island and Sky Fortress. Magneton also appeared in ''[[Pokémon Rumble]]'' at Fiery Furnace.

*Magneton have been shown in several episodes of the Pokémon anime and they were first featured in one episode where several Magnemite and Magneton helped Ash's group to fight off a city's infestation of [[Grimer]] and [[Muk]]. One Orange Islands episode showed one of the Magnemite which a trainer used to direct electricity to cities evolving into a Magneton. During the Silver Conference at the end of the Johto series, Jackson used a Shiny Magneton that took out several members of Ash's team before falling to [[Bulbasaur]]. [[Wattson]] also used a Magenton in his gym battle with Ash during the Johto episodes, and the eleventh movie had its villain Zero commanding an army of Magnemite and Magneton.
*In the ''Pokémon Adventures'' manga, several Magneton were first shown in the ''Red''/''Green''/''Blue'' arc under the command of [[Lieutenant Surge]]. He has four Magneton which he used to create a tetrahedral aura which is used to transport or trap people and Pokémon. Magneton have also been shown in the parties of [[Jasmine]] in the Johto arc and Wattson in the Hoenn arc. A Magneton belonging to [[Cyrus (Pokemon)|Cyrus]] briefly appeared in the ''Diamond''/''Pearl'' arc before evolving into Magnezone due to being at Mt. Coronet.

*Its name is a combination of "magnet" and "ton".
*Both Magneton and its pre-evolved forms where originally classified as pure Electric-types in the first generation games. It was not until the second generation (which introduced the Steel type) that they were reclassified as being part Steel-type.
