Malledus was a nobleman who served as an advisor to the royal family of Altea. When Gra mounted an attack against Altea in the beginning of the War of Darkness, Malledus initially remained in the castle to watch over Princess [[Elice]]. They were to retreat as Gra's forces neared the castle, but Elice ultimately elected to stay behind so that she could watch over her people. She convinced Malledus to leave without her by telling him that [[Marth]] would need his guidance in order to wield the [[Falchion]]. Malledus departed from the castle and met up with Marth, telling him of his sister's wishes and then preventing him from going back to the castle after her. He helped to guide Marth and the remaining knights to safety through his advice and by arranging a boat to Talys. Malledus also came up with the difficult plan of leaving behind one of their own as a decoy ([[Frey]]) to prevent Gra's soldiers from catching up with them, a plan that wound up ensuring their successful escape.

Two years later, Marth began his campaign against Dolhr. Malledus remained amongst their ranks not as a fighter, but as a strategist. He gave Marth advice about how to properly run an army, and he also told Marth everything he knew about relevant legends and historical events. He also played a crucial role in shutting down [[Gharnef]]'s apparatus while the others were fighting in Chapter 24: Dark Pontifex. After the War of Darkness ended, Malledus fell ill at some point in the following year. [[Jagen]] took his place, and nothing more of Malledus's life is known.
