The game consists of 204 challenges that can be complete, which utilize segments of classic NES games. The challenges consists of short segments from the original games in which players must complete a certain task. For each game, there are a number of challenges that are based directly on segments from the original games. There are also a number of Remix challenges which add additional elements to the challenges, such as zooming out the screen, darkening the level or adding elements from other games such as completing a level of ''Donkey Kong'' as [[Link]], who is unable to jump. In each challenge, players have a limited amount of lives that are represented in the form of hearts, and there are often conditions to the challenges such as time limits. At the end of each challenge, players are ranked by how quickly they performed the challenge in the form of one to three stars, which can become rainbow stars in response to the fastest runs. Players are also rewarded for completing challenges in the form of Bits, which could be used to purchase collectible stamps representing the sprites of various characters, creatures and items from the associated games.
