A Scyther evolves into a Scizor when it is traded to another trainer while holding a Metal Coat. Its body becomes hard as steel, so it is not easily fazed by normal attacks. Scizor has a pair of pincers (replacing Scyther's scythes) that can crush any object that it gets a hold of into bits. The pincers have eyelike markings on them, so Scizor will often raise its pincers for intimidation or to scare foes by giving the illusion that it has three heads. It also swings the pincers down dangerously.

Although Scizor has a pair of wings, they are not functional for flying. Rather, Scizor's wings are flapped at high speed in order to adjust its body temperature.

In Pokémon Stadium 2, a Scizor from one of the second generation color versions could be used as a playable character in the "Clear Cut Challenge" minigame alongside Scyther and Pinsir. A Scizor could be sent to Pokémon Colosseum through an e-card, and from there it could be traded to any of the third generation color versions. In Pokémon Trozei!, it was found at Endless Level 6, Forever Level 45, Pair Trozei and Mr. Who's Den. It could only be obtained through evolution in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, but in Explorers of Time and Darkness they could be recruited at the first nineteen floors of Mt. Travail. A non-playable Scizor also appeared in Explorers where it was a famous explorer that was captured by Froslass and imprisoned in ice for several decades. After being rescued by the player's team, Scizor gave them the Secret Rank.

*In the Pokémon anime, a Scizor was first shown in an episode of the Johto series where it belonged to an ambitious young trainer named Shingo, and his old mentor also his own Scizor that was named Masamune. A Scizor was also used by the Iron-Masked Marauder, the villain of the fourth movie, and Gary used a Scizor during the Silver Conference battle against Ash. Scizor have also appeared in various other episodes throughout the anime, usually used by minor trainers in battles. One episode of the Battle Frontier series featured a trainer who disguised her Scizor as something called the Red Lightning and had it go around the city beating other trainer's Pokémon then scribbling on their faces. Ash was able to reveal its identity and defeat it.

*In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Blue's Scyther evolved into a Scizor prior to the Gold/Silver/Crystal arc. It has remained a regular part of his team since then.

Trivia
*Its name is a combination of "scissor" and "razor" which seems to be arranged to sound similar to Scyther's name.
