Shuppet is a Pokémon that feeds on the dark emotions in people's hearts, particularly envy and vindictiveness. Shuppet roam through cities in search of grudges that taint people at night and return to their nests when the sun rises. It feeds on these emotions through the upright horn atop its head. When someone develops strong feelings of vengeance, swarms of Shuppet will come to the person's house and hang under the eaves to feed.

Shuppet evolves into Banette at Level 37.

*In the Pokémon anime, Shuppet was featured in an episode of the Hoenn series in which Max befriended one at a mansion, and they worked together to play pranks on Ash and the others. The Shuppet wound up staying at the mansion with Emily, who remembered playing with it during her childhood, and they worked together to make the mansion into a hotel. Shuppet was also featured as one of the main Pokémon of Grings Kodai, the thirteenth movie's antagonist, and other Shuppet have appeared in more minor appearances throughout the anime.

*In the ''Pokémon Adventures'' manga, Shuppet have made primarily minor appearances from the ''Ruby''/''Sapphire'' arc onwards, belonging to [[Team Magma]] grunts and other minor characters.

=Trivia=

*Its name is a truncation of "shadow puppet", which refers to the fact that it resembles a type of puppet and is associated with shadows, and it also is a reference to the act of shadow puppetry, in which one uses their own shadow to imitate a variety of characters and objects.
