'''Zangoose''' is a mongoose-like Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. It has no evolutionary line, although it is associated with [[Seviper]], which is its rival.

=Information=

Zangoose are known for the sharp claws on their forelegs which are their biggest assets in combat and can tear up foes. Zangoose usually stays on all fours, but it stands on its hind legs and extends its claws when angered. They are also agile enough to avoid most attacks. The Zangoose have feuded with Seviper for generations, to the point where memories of their battles are etched into every cell of a Zangoose's body. When one encounters a Seviper or even just smells one, its fur will bristle, and it will quickly assume a battle pose.

In ''[[Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl Versions|Diamond, Pearl]]'' and ''[[Pokémon: Platinum Version|Platinum Versions]]'', it could appear at Routes 208 and 210 through the dual slot method when a ''Ruby'' cartridge was present in the GBA slot. In ''[[Pokémon: HeartGold and SoulSilver Versions|HeartGold and SoulSilver]]'', it could appear in the Safari Zone's Plains (with enough Rock objects) or Peak (with enough Plains objects) areas. In ''[[Pokémon: Black and White Versions|Black and White]]'', it was found uncommonly at Route 11 and the Village Bridge.

In ''[[Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness]]'', a Shadow Zangoose could be snagged from Thug Zook at Cipher Key Lair, and after being purified it could be transferred to any of the third generation color versions. In ''[[Pokémon Trozei!]]'', it appeared at Secret Storage 3, Huge Storage 3, Endless Level 22 and Mr. Who's Den. In ''[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams]]'', it could be recruited at the seventh through twelfth floors of Mt. Freeze and the sixty-fifth through seventy-first floors of Wish Cave. In ''[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness|Explorers of Time and Darkness]]'', it could be recruited at Crevice Cave and Mt. *In the Pokémon anime, Zangoose was featured in an episode of the Hoenn series where it belonged to Nicholai and got into a fight with a Seviper that it ultimately won. The Zangoose from ''Pokémon Mystery Dungeon'' also appeared in the ''Explorers of Time and Darkness'' special. Zangoose were also featured as antagonists in several episodes of the Sinnoh series, and Jessie's Seviper was able instinctively come out of its Pokéball to confront them. They were particularly enemies for Ash's [[Chimchar]], but it was able to overcome its fears and ultimately defeat the Zangoose.
*In the ''Pokémon Adventures'' manga, Zangoose was featured in a chapter of the ''Ruby''/''Sapphire'' arc in which Ruby and a fisherman came across a Zangoose's fight with a Seviper. They set aside their feud and turned their attention to the humans after noticing them, until Ruby's [[Feebas]] was able to blind them.
