Debut Ocarina of Time

Mido is one of the Kokiri children created by the Great Deku Tree who lives within the Kokiri Forest. He is the boss of the Kokiris during Ocarina of Time. At first Mido seems to be nothing more than a mean bully who teases Link for lacking a fairy and envies Link for the attention both the Deku Tree and his crush Saria give him. Mido tries many stunts to catch Saria's attention, like offering to cut her grass and then forcing someone else to do it.

Background[edit]

One day Mido's hate for Link intensifed when he saw Link leaving the Great Deku Tree's sanctuary as the tree died. Mido blamed Link for the tree's death. Over the next seven years Ganondorf took control of Hyrule, and soon his evil spread even to the Kokiri Forest. While Saria went ahead to the Forest Temple, she had Mido guard the path behind her. It was there that he was reunited with Link.

Mido didn't recognize Link- who was actually a Hylian all along and had grown up. But when Link played Saria's Song, Mido knew he must be a friend of Saria and let him through. Afterwards Mido got bummed when he found out from Link that Saria wasn't coming back from the temple. Mido asked told the strange Hylian that if he ever met a Kokiri named Link, to tell Link that he was sorry for being mean to him.

Even after Ganondorf's defeat, Mido's depression over Saria's departure had not subsided. He wound up sitting on the sidelines of the big Lon Lon Ranch celebration with fellow mourner King Zora. But then his mood was finally brightened when he saw Saria flying overhead in a streak of green light.
