O'Chunks is a recurring boss in Super Paper Mario.
Background[edit]
O'Chunks was a large and burly man with an Irish accent. Once he was the general of an army in a certain land, until the day that he was betrayed by one of his most trusted advisors. Afterwards he was left rejected until found by Count Bleck. Count Bleck exploited O'Chunks's vulnerability and recruited him as a henchman. O'Chunks grew to respect the count and developed a great fondness for him.
O'Chunks was first deployed to deal with the legendary hero in Chapter 1. Despite his great strength, Mario was able to defeat O'Chunks. He congratulated Mario (or Maria as O'Chunks thought his name was) and hoped to battle him again. O'Chunks was later deployed again in Chapter 5-2: Pixls, Tablets and Crag. After yet another defeat, O'Chunks was unwilling to see the count after this failure and begged Mario's group to finish him off so he could die with honor. But O'Chunks changed his mind after Dimentio offered to help him find something the count wanted.
However, Dimentio then planted a Floro Sprout into O'Chunks's head, which made him somewhat stronger and gave him an obsession with vegetables. Dimentio sent O'Chunks after Mario's group in Chapter 5-4: The Menace of King Croacus. O'Chunks was defeated again and lost the Floro Sprout, reverting him to his original state of mind, clueless about how he had gotten there. O'Chunks returned to Count Bleck's lair, where Nastasia forced him to make up an inspiration song about the count and sing it 1,000 times.
O'Chunks later confronted Mario's group one last time when they arrived in Castle Bleck in Chapter 8-1. Bowser and O'Chunks engaged trash talk which led the two to fight each other in one-on-one combat. O'Chunks grew twice in size, but he was still beaten. Afterwards O'Chunks held up the collapsing ceiling so that Mario's group could pass through, saying that they had earned the right to advance further into the castle by beating him. Bowser was unwilling to let O'Chunks hog the heroic sacrifice for himself and held up the ceiling with him. This led to another argument, but both were saved from being crushed when the floor broke beneath them.
O'Chunks and Mimi found their way back to the count and witnessed his final hour before disappearing from the world. O'Chunks then spent his time on the third floor of Flipside. When Mario found him, he was looking for Nastasia in hopes of taking her out for drinks and cheering her up (ironically she was on the third floor of Flopside). He claimed that he only cared for Nastasia as a chum, but that he didn't like to see any of his chums sad.
