Est is a playable unit who appears in Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi, Gaiden, Monshou no Nazo, BS Fire Emblem: Akaneia Senki and Shadow Dragon.

Background

BS Fire Emblem

Est was the youngest of three sisters hailing from Macedon. She and her older sisters Palla and Catria made up a mercenary group called the Whitewings, who served General Minerva. She was always upbeat and eager to prove herself. During the War of Darkness, they were forced to fight for Dolhr after they took Minerva's sister Maria hostage. During Part 2 of BS Fire Emblem, she and Catria helped Minerva in defeated corrupt deserters from Macedon's army.

Book One

The Whitewings were deployed to do battle with Marth's Altean Army at Lefcandith Valley in Chapter 7 (6 SNES), but Minerva had them retreat after she either got sick of the Dolhr general's tactics or was defeated. Afterwards, they planned to rebel against Dolhr once Maria was sade, although Dolhr seperated Minerva and the Whitewings to prevent them from conspiring. After Maria was rescued by Marth, Minerva and the other allied with Marth. Est wound up arriving later as she took a detour to Grust, where she stole the legendary weapon Mercurius, eluding capture with help from Camus. She brought it to Marth's army and joined them in Chapter 18 (or Chapter 16 in the SNES version). After the war ended, she had fallen in love with Abel and stayed in Altea to be with him.

Gaiden

Est was captured by pirates, who brought her to their desert base in Valencia. A mercenary named Jesse attempted to save her in vain, but Celica's army eventually saved her with the help of Est's sisters. Est was grateful and fought for Celica's army for the rest of the war. Afterwards, the pegasus sisters returned to Archanea, with Est cheerily promising to return one day (or if one of her sisters died, she would weep remembering they had died for her sake).

Book Two

Three years later, Abel and Est returned to combat to defend Altea when it was invaded by Hardin's men. Est was eventually captured and held hostage to force Abel into fighting for them. Marth and his army were able to save and recruit her in Chapter 15, at which point she could recruit Abel by showing him that she was alive. After the war ended, Est left Abel for unknown reasons and vanished, with Abel disappearing in search of her (if Abel had been killed in battle, it was said that Est vanished due to being saddened by his death).

Trivia

  • Catria, Est and Camus are the only characters to appear in some form in all five of the Archanea-set Fire Emblem games, and of these three Catria and Est are unique in that they are playable in all of these games.
  • In Monshou no Nazo, she receives Support Bonuses from Minerva and Abel, and in Shadow Dragon she receives Support Bonuses from both of them as well as Cain.
