Wartortle is ancient turtle-like Pokémon that was introduced in the first generation games. It is the middle form of Squirtle's evolutionary line and evolves into Blastoise.
Information[edit]
Squirtle evolves into Wartortle at Level 16. Wartortle has several unique features gained in the evolution from Squirtle (but lost in the evolution to Blastoise), such as its furry ears and tail, which it controls to maintain balance while swimming fast. It also uses the fur to store air before taking long dives. It will often hide in water to stalk unwary prey, and when tapped it will retract its head but its tail cannot be fully retracted.
Wartortle is known for its longevity, as shown by its furry tail, and has been rumored to be capable of living for 10,000 years. Algae on its shell and deeper coloring of its tail are both signs of Wartortle's age. This longevity makes it popular among older people, and it is very popular as a pet in general. It is also a tougher fighter, which is symbolized by the scratches on the Wartortle's shell. It evolves into Blastoise at Level 36.
