After his second loss, Roy makes his way back home on foot along with the other Koopalings.  They arrive to find a fallen Bowser and help him up, only for Bowser's Castle to fall on top of them.

Roy Koopa is the third oldest of the Koopalings who appear as recurring boss characters under Bowser's command throughout the Super Mario series. He is known for the distinctive shades that he wears. In battle. Roy seems to rely on brute force and using his weight against foes.

Background

Roy's first appearance in a Mario game was in Super Mario Bros. 3, where he spearheaded an invasion of The Sky with his Airship and part of Bowser's army. He had stolen a Magic Scepter from the Sky's king and turned him into an animal (a duck in the original game or an Albatoss in the remake). During the boss battle, Roy attacked with blasts from the Magic Scepter, much like his siblings, and he also attacked with powerful stomps that could temporarily stun anyone standing on the ground. He was ultimately defeated, and the scepter was returned to its rightful owner.

In Super Mario World, Roy appeared as the boss of the Forest of Illusion, located in a castle on the outskirts of the forest, near Chocolate Island. In this game, Roy would attack Mario or Luigi by walking up walls and along the ceiling before dropping himself down in an attempt to crush Mario or Luigi, while the walls slowly closed in. Once again Roy was defeated, and the castle exploded afterwards. In Yoshi's Safari, Roy appears as the boss of Float Castle I, where he battles Mario and Yoshi from a hot-air balloon, equipped with six powerful cannons.

After several years of absence, Roy made a reappearance in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, where he appears to help Bowletta in her attack on the BeanBean Kingdom. In this appearance, he is the fifth Koopaling to be battled, and he attacks Mario and Luigi by flinging fireballs at them and by creating shockwaves.

Roy returned to the main games in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, redesigned with a purple shell rather than a pink one. He and the other Koopalings kidnapped Peach on her birthday and escaped aboard an airship. During their escape, Bowser Jr. dropped each of the Koopalings off at fortresses along the way to slow down Mario and co. Roy was left at the World 2 fortress; when Mario arrived, he roared at him before engaging in battle, using a new magic wand and paralyzing stomps. Upon being defeated, he ran to the World 2 castle and launched spells at the heroes as they make their way to him. At the end of the castle, he faced Mario again with help from Kamek, who used a spell to form warp pipes on the arena's ceiling for him to use. After his second loss, Roy made his way back home on foot along with the other Koopalings. They arrived to find a fallen Bowser and helped him up, only for Bowser's Castle to fall on top of them.

In New Super Mario Bros. 2. the Koopalings worked together to kidnap Peach for their father. Roy held onto her first, acting as the boss of the first world's castle. In this battle, Roy simply attacked by shooting blasts from a magic wand and spinning around in his shell, while the walls slowly closed in. Once again, he was defeated, leaving behind the key that unlocked the next world while Peach was taken away by the next Koopaling. Roy then appeared in New Super Mario Bros. U as the boss of the sixth world, the Rock-Candy Mines, and in this appearance he was armed with a Bill Blaster that fired Bullet Bills while also utilizing ground pounds in his attacks.
