The Red Bulborb is a basic enemy monster from the Pikmin series.

Information[edit]

Perhaps the most common of the bulborb category of the Grub-Dog family, this creature is found underground. Like all of the other larger bulborbs, this species is a nocturnal creature that will chose its resting spots at any given spot. During the day it will only wake if attacked or it hears something close by. Of all the larger Grub-Dogs, it is the least dangerous of all. Contrary to common belief, the Dwarf Red Bulborb is in fact not their offspring but a completely different species of Grub-Dog.

Like most in their species, they are bumbling creatures that use their incredibly large mouths as their primary offensive. Engagements with these creatures head on are often met with disaster, as they will attempt to eat or bite their enemies. A rear assault, especially when they are sleeping, are only somewhat successive. Given their light sleeping habits, it is not easy to sneak up one, therefor making a sudden strike neccessary. When enemies attack their upper body, behind the eyes, they are their most defenseless. In such scenarios, they will shake the offendors from their bulk and continue their attack.

Scientific Report[edit]

  • It takes ten pikmin to carry a Red Bulborb. They're worth 7 pokos, and can be turned into 12 seeds.
  • Louie's Cooking Notes
    • Plump specimens are best spit-roasted whole, stuffed with a lime and a slab of bacon. Baste frequently to ensure a magnificently moist haunch.

Other Appearances[edit]

Video Games[edit]

  • In Super Smash Bros. Brawl and following games of the Super Smash Bros. series, Red Bulborbs appear as part of Olimar's Final Smash (where they attack fighters while Olimar is blasted off), and one also appears in the Distant Planet stage. In the stage, it will occasionally wander onto screen and open its mouth, devouring any fighters that fall into it. It will eventually wander offscreen. Red Bulborbs also appear as enemies in the Smash Run mode of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
    • The Red Bulborb is also represented by a trophy and sticker (from Pikmin 2) in Brawl, a trophy in the 3DS/Wii U game and an Advanced-Rank Primary Spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. As a Spirit, it could be enhanced into a Spirit of an Empress Bulblax if brought up to Level 99. When fought in a Spirit battle, the Bulborb's Spirit would possess a giant Yoshi in a timed stamina battle where it has enhanced attack power and a focus on using Yoshi's Egg Lay ability.
