Debut Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!

Don Flamenco is a boxer appearing as an opponent in the Punch-Out!! games.

Background[edit]

Don Flamenco was a flamboyant Spaniard showsman. His cutscenes for the Wii games showed that in Spain, he worked as a matador and took down bulls with simple uppercuts in order to impress ladies. He was also vain and wore a toupee, which he appreciated as his own hair. Strangely enough, he even admired the hair of the referee Mario. As a boxer, he was primarily known for his uppercuts and his general strategy of taunting the enemy into attacking him so that he could try to counter them. Before each battle, he will dance with a rose in his mouth.

Within Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, he was first battled as the #3 contender of the Major Circuit. He was easily defeated at first, as after sinking one punch into him, it was possible to continue punching him until he was knocked out. However, he reappeared as the #2 fighter in the World Circuit, where he no longer had that vulnerability, and instead he was a faster and tougher opponent in general.

He reappeared in the Wii Punch-Out!! as the champion of the Major Circuit. He was a much tougher fighter this time around, despite still relying on his basic strategy of taunting the opponent into attacking him and then attempting to counter them. Flamenco also had a new special attack where he, after stepping back and counting to three, will attempt to assail Little Mac with a series of hard-to-dodge hooks punctuated by an uppercut. He became even more difficult after losing his toupee, at which point he would attack in a rage. He can be battled again in Title Defense mode, where he wears darker clothing and has a new attack scheme.
