PAON was a second party company of Nintendo that developed a trio of Donkey Kong in 2005 and 2007. They also absorbed developers from and the rights to the games of third party developer Data East after it went bankrupt. PAON has since been rereleasing their games over the Virtual Console as well as continuing their Hercules no Eiko series, with the first one they made being the first one that was released in America. PAON also contributed to the development of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In March 2015, they merged with DP Co., Ltd. to become Paon DP CO., Ltd. Paon Corporation was dissolved, while Paon DP went on to primarily develop mobile games in Japan.
