Argenta is one of the five Frontier Brains of the Battle Frontier used for both Sinnoh (Platinum) and Johto (HeartGold/SoulSilver). She holds the title of Hall Matron and runs the Battle Hall.

Background

Argenta believed in the value of a trainer's one favorite Pokémon, as the Battle Hall was designed for challengers to use only one Pokémon in a series of battles while going down a catwalk. She understood the tension involved, but she also understood that one was at their best after overcoming a challenge, and she considered herself to be the greatest challenge of all for trainers.

She was battled after winning 50 and 170 consecutive battles at the Battle Hall. After being beaten the first time, she detested how quickly fun times had to end and talked about how she believed that a good trainer kept their favorite without being arrogant and forcing it one others. She gave the player a silver print and asked them to come again with a favorite Pokémon. In the second battle, Argenta noted the challenger's Pokémon's charisma coming from its Pokéball but decided she would still have to fight the challenger in order to see if that brilliance was real. After being defeated this time, she lamented the brevity of fun once more and asked the challenger not to forget that there is a place where everyone and every kind of Pokémon can shine. Argenta urged the challenger to spread this message and gave them a gold print as the reward.

Pokémon Roster

Due to the rules of the Battle Hall, Argenta only uses one Pokémon (just as the player), and it is selected at random. Unlike with the Battle Hall's other trainers, however, the player cannot decide which type Pokémon she will use. The only limitation is the prohibition of legendary Pokémon.

In Other Pokémon Games

In Pokémon Masters EX, Argenta appeared with a Skarmory as a playable sync pair that could be recruited at random through the game's Sync Pair Scout after being added to the game in September 2023. Her Skarmory was capable of Dynamaxing. She was featured in the "Tower Tycoon and Battle Matron" Story Event, in which she helped to encourage Barry to face Palmer about his insecurities and ultimately teamed up with Palmer and Norman for a battle against Barry, Brendan and Scottie/Bettie.

• She appeared in the Platinum arc of the Pokémon Adventures manga, where she was first seen attending a meeting of the Frontier Brains and helped Palmer to investigate their communication system going down. Platina later faced and defeated her at the Battle Hall.

Trivia

• Her name is taken from the scientific name of a colorful plant known as the plumed cockscomb. Her Japanese name is Kate, which also refers to the Japanese word for that same plant.
• Argenta is notable in that her facility has the highest required number of consecutive matches before a Frontier Brain match, as most Battle Frontier facilities have a Battle Frontier match after every 21st and 49th battle.
• While her Pokémon are completely random in her core appearances, all of her other appearances (Pokémon Masters EX, the Pokémon Adventures manga and the trading card game) have paired her with Pokémon that are part Flying-type, implying that could be her type preference.
