Terrakion is one of three legendary musketeer Pokémon (which additionally seems to include Keldeo) that was introduced in the fifth generation games.

Information[edit]

Terrakion, Cobalion and Virizion were around during the time of ancient Unova, when people and Pokémon were separated. These powerful creatures appointed themselves the protectors of Pokémon. In one incident, they worked together to save Pokémon when warring humans had set a forest on fire. During this crisis, Terrakion used its strength to break the rocks which blocked their escape route. The three of them then routed the humans whom had caused the war. However, they realized that human desires would constantly lead to more warfare and more Pokémon suffering. The three of them decided to cut themselves off from people and disappeared, living on as legends.

Terrakion seems to be primarily known for its strength. Its charge is powerful enough to break through a castle wall in one blow.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Black and White Versions, Terrakion could be found in Victory Road's Trial Chamber. The Trial Chamber only appeared after Cobalion was captured, because at that point Cobalion was able to communicate with Terrakion and Virizion that the world had changed for the better, which convinced them to come out of hiding.

Other Appearances[edit]

Video Games[edit]

  • In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Cobalion, Terrakion and Virizion appeared together as a single shared Ace-rank Primary Spirit. When fought against in a Spirit battle, their Spirit would possess a trio of fighters each wielding a beam sword, with their melee weapons strengthened and with random chances of delivering critical hits. Cobalion was represented by a blue Yoshi, Terrakion by Duck Hunt and Virizion by a green Lucario.

Trivia[edit]

  • Its name seems to a play on "terracotta" (which is its color as well as a mineral), and "terra" is also Latin for "earth".
  • This legendary trio is based on the three musketeers, which is hinted in their sword-based abilities and their hidden fourth member. Terrakion in particular is based on Porthos, who was the largest and strongest of the Musketeers.
