Kuru Kuru Kururin is a puzzle game for the Game Boy Advance. The name translates to Spinning Kururin.

Story[edit]

Kururin's brothers and sisters have gone missing. At first, he is unsure, but quickly agrees to find them. Teacher Hare teaches Kururin how to fly the Heririn, a helicopter-like vehicle. With that, Kururin sets of on his journey to save his family.

Gameplay[edit]

Each level consists of a maze that the player must navigate without touching the walls. The player can touch a wall three times before dying. Hitting the wall also costs the player 3 seconds and causes any siblings the player has collected to fly away. Collecting a heart will heal the player a little. Also in the maze are bonuses that can change the Heririn's color or blade shape.

Players can go back after beating a level to attempt a better time or collect bonus items they missed the first time.

Legacy[edit]

The Heririn, Kururin's helicopter, appears in Super Smash Bros. Melee as a trophy.

Ports/Remakes[edit]

  • In 2015/2016, it was made available for download on the Wii U as part of the Wii U Virtual Console. This included the game's first release in North America.
  • In February 2023, it was among the first wave of Game Boy Advance games made available on the Nintendo Switch for subscribers of the Nintendo Switch Online's Expansion Pack program.

Sequels[edit]

Kuru Kuru Kururin was popular enough to warrant two sequels: Kururin Paradise for the Game Boy Advance, and Kururin Squash! for the Nintendo GameCube.
