Nidorino is the larger evolved form of Nidoran♂ from the first generation Pokémon games. As with its predecessor, it is exclusively male Its female counterpart is Nidorina.

Information

Nidorino evolves from the male Nidoran at Level 16. It is an aggressive Pokémon that is quick to attack. Like the other members of the Nido-family, its horn contains a powerful venom. Nidorino's horn might be the most powerful of the family (barring its evolution), as the horn is said to be harder than diamond. When it punctures the enemy with the horn, it pumps venom into the wound, and the impact makes the poison leak out. Like its pre-evolved form, it is also distinguished by its large horns, which it uses to check its surroundings. The bristles on Nidorino's back rise, and they attack immediately with their horns upon detecting an enemy.

Nidorino evolves into its final form, Nidoking, when exposed to a Moon Stone.

		LeafGreen	An aggressive Pokémon that is quick to attack. The horn on its head secretes a powerful venom.

Nidorino is found primarily at the Safari Zone in Pokémon: Red, Blue, Yellow, FireRed and LeafGreen Versions. In Blue, it could also be won at the Celadon Game Corner for 1200 coins, while in Yellow, Nidorino also appeared on Routes 9 and 23 It is slightly more common in '"Red, Yellow and FireRed than in Blue and LeafGreen, where they were rare.

In Gold, Silver, Crystal, HeartGold and SoulSilver, Nidorino could be commonly found on Routes 13, 14 and 15. In HeartGold/'"SoulSilver, they could also be found in the Savannah area of the Johto Safari Zone.

Nidorino could be obtained using the Pokéradar in Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, the usage of which causes them to show up at Route 221 in all three games, and in Lake Valor in the former two.

Other Games

Nidorino appeared in Pokémon Pinball, where it was obtained through evolution only. In Pokémon Trozei!, Nidorino could be found at Secret Storage 3 and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, they appeared on the fourth through eighth floors of Lapris Cave and the forty-seventh through fiftieth floors of Wish Cave, while in Explorers of Darkness and Time they appeared on the fourth through ninth floors of Mt. Bristle and the first nine basement floors of Labyrinth Cave.

They also appeared in Pokémon Rumble, where they were found in Eternal Tower.

• In the Pokémon anime, the very first scene was a televised battle of a Nidorino fighting a Gengar, making it the first Pokémon to appear in the anime. An episode later in the Kanto series about two Nidoran in love ended with the two Pokémon evolving into Nidorino and Nidorina. Aside from that, Nidorino have mostly made minor appearances throughout the series.
• In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Nidorino was shown in the first chapter where Red caught one to demonstrate to some children how to catch a Pokémon, but he was never shown using it afterwards. During the FireRed/LeafGreen chapter, Red advised a young trainer to use a Gengar against a wild Nidorino in another reference to the Red/Blue opening sequence.

=Trivia-

• Nidorino's name is possibly a combination of "needle" and "rhinoceros". Its name could also refer to "ni", Japanese for "two" in reference to the two separate genders and evolution paths of Nidoran. Its name ending in an "o" is reflective of its gender due to the Spanish custom of ending names of male nouns with an "o".
• The opening sequence of Red, Green and Blue shows a Nidorino in battle with Gengar, a scene referenced in the various adaptations. This makes Nidorino the first Pokémon to technically appear within the games.
• Unlike its female counterpart Nidorina or that one's evolved form Nidoqueen, Nidorino and Nidoking can be bred with other Pokémon,
