Zigzagoon is a common raccoon-like Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. Its evolved form is Linoone.

Information

Zigzagoon is a Pokémon that is constantly and restlessly wandering everywhere due its natural sense of curiosity. It becomes interesting in everything that it sees. They often rub their noses against the ground and wander back and forth in search of something, which has caused them to be distinguished by their zigzagging footprints which are left behind. Zigzagoon are actually good at finding items in the grass and even in the ground. A Zigzagoon has bristly hair on its back and rubs this hard hair against trees in order to mark its territory.

They have also been known to play dead in order to fool enemies in battle. Zigzagoon evolves into Linoone at Level 20.

In Ruby and Sapphire, Zigzagoon were commonly found at Routes 101, 102, 103, 104, 110, 116, 117, 118, 119, 120, 121 and 123 as well as Petalburg Woods. In Emerald, it was less common (being switched with Poochyena) and only was found at Routes 101, 102, 103, 118 and 119. Zigzagoon was also the Pokémon that attacked Professor Birch in the beginning of Emerald (once more in place of Poochyena) and which acted as the first Pokémon for the player to battle.

In Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, they appeared at Route 202 in swarms. In HeartGold and Silver. they could appear at Sprout Tower, Burned Tower and Bell Tower when playing the Hoenn Sound station on the radio, and they could also appear at the Safari Zone's Plains and Savannah area if enough Forest or Plains objects were placed in the respective areas. Zizagoon could also be caught at the Pokéwalker's Hoenn Field course, from which it could be transferred to HeartGold/SoulSilver.

Other Games

In Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire, they were found at the Forest, and Zigzagoon was also part of the table which helped operate the slot machine. A Zigzagoon egg could also be received as a prize for depositing 100 Pokémon in Pokémon Box: Ruby & Sapphire, and the egg could be transferred to any of the third generation color versions. In Pokémon Trozei!, it was found at Secret Storage 12, Endless Level 25, Trozei Battle and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, it could be recruited at the first five floors of Mt. Steel, and in Explorers of Time and Darkness it was found at the first eleven floors of Foggy Forest. It was also found in Pokémon Ranger at Lyra Forest.

• In the Pokémon anime, Zigzagoon have made various minor appearances since the beginning of the Hoenn series. It was only featured in one Hoenn episode where a trainer named Nicholai obsessively tried to catch one while pursuing a group of Zigzagoon, and he went as far as to wear a Zigzagoon costume. He was eventually successful in catching one after he helped Ash's group to rescue Max from the group of Zigzagoon.
• In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Zigzagoon was only shown in one chapter of the Ruby/Sapphire arc where Sapphire got a Zigzagoon down from a tree for the picnicker who owned it, and the woman was alienated by Sapphire's way of checking the Zigzagoon's health (which consisted of smelling its rear).

• Its name is a combination of "zigzag" (which refers to its zigzagging movements and could also refer to its fur pattern) and "raccoon".
