The Anode Beetle is a type of insect that appears in Pikmin 2. It is capable of discharging electricity.

Information[edit]

A unique insect capable of producing electricy for energy in addition to its own glycogen. This is accomplished using their microscopic hairs on the legs of the creature that causes the friction to produce the charge. This is then processed by its internal machina battery structure and then transformed into an electrical field that lasts temporarily. Excess energy is transferred between others of its own kind. This effectively shocks and kills any creatures caught in the field. This works effectively for defensive purposes and protecting the group as a whole.

Due to their electric charge, attacking one is inherently difficult. Due to the electricity, yellow pikmin have a natural advantage due to their immunity to electricity. The Anode Beetle's hard shell makes it difficult the attack, but an attack from above will flip the creature over, revealing its soft underbelly and preventing it from attacking.

Trivia[edit]

  • The Anode Beetle is worth three pokos, yet requires five pikmin to carry.
  • Louie's Cooking Notes: Drain the electrical charge before boiling. Although it is possible to eat an anode beetle while it is charged, doing so may result in an unpleasant tingling sensation.
