Mario Kart Wii is the seventh title in the Mario Kart series. It was first announced at E3 2007 on July 11th.
Gameplay
Mario Kart Wii features the same gameplay that has been a staple to the series. Players can choose from multiple racers with a variety of karts available as well. The game has been confirmed to be WiFi enabled (like Mario Kart DS), but also allow for Battle Mode to be played online, a first in the series. A Mario Kart Wii Channel will also be opened to record world records.
The dual riders from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! has been abandoned, with the characters now all driving in single karts. The game will also introduce motorcycles. 50cc Mode will feature karts, while 100cc Mode features motorcycles and 150cc Mode features both. Additionally, Miis will be playable. The Mission Mode, introduced in Mario Kart DS, will also be featured for the first time in a console Mario Kart game.
The game will have different methods of play and will come packaged with the official Wii Wheel peripheral, although it can also be played with any of the Wii's other controllers.
