Background
Past Timeline
Kylie was an ace reporter working for the Koopa Kronicle. She was fast-talking, tomboyish and always eager to find a big scoop. Kylie had a habit of speaking in old-fashioned slang and constantly snapping pictures with her camera. She confronted Mario and Luigi several times during the Shroob invasion in Partners in Time.
She first met the Mario Bros. on Yoshi's Island, where she was investigating the strange local events and was nearly devoured by the Yoob. She met them again at the Gritzy Desert and helped them to enter the Shroobs' dome by telling them about a secret entrance. They then saved her after she was eaten by Petey Piranha. In the process, she found the key to something inside the Shroobs' mothership and thought she could use it to reach her next big scoop.
Kylie then infiltrated the Shroob mothership disguised as a Shroob, but she had to reveal herself to save Mario and Luigi later on. She used the key on a machine, only for it to open a hatch that dumped both her and the brothers out of the ship. Falling to Yoshi's Island, she landed on Toadbert's head and inadvertently unlocked his memory. Kylie and Toadbert rushed to warn the Mario Bros. not to reune the Cobalt Star, but before they could say the full message, they were turned into mushrooms by the Shroobs. They would later be restored to their normal selves with the rest of the world by the flood of baby tears that were spread by Professor E. Gadd.
Present Timeline
At the end of Partners in Time, it is shown that she wrote a book based on the adventure dubbed "Fungicide: The Epic Battle for the Mushroom Kingdom".
She later reappeared in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. It was shown that she had a number of jobs over the years and did not seem to clearly remember her time as a reporter, including not recognizing Mario and Luigi. Kylie started living in Wakeport on Pi'illo Island and found work as a guidebook writer for the island's tourist center. She eventually re-met Mario and Luigi, and she recruited them to find pictures from her guidebook. This took on the form of a sidequest in which Mario and Luigi had to find a picture block in each region of the island. After hitting one of those blocks, they could then develop the photos at Kylie's office, which took on the form of timed jigsaw puzzle minigames. Kylie gave them a variety of items as rewards for completing the photos within the time limits.
