History
Monolith Soft was founded by former Square employee Hirohide Sugiura in 1999. He was able to do this with the help of Namco's investment. Monolith became famous for their Xenosaga series as well as their work on Baten Kaitos.
On April 26, 2007, Nintendo bought 80% of Namco's 96% ownership in Monolith Soft, making it a second party developer.
