Pikmin is an unusual realtime strategy game created by Shigeru Miyamoto.
Story
Captain Olimar, a spaceman, went on vacation when he crash landed on a strange foreign planet. When he wakes up, he discovers that the planets atmosphere is poisonous to him. He has 30 days to repair his ship, the Dolphin, before his air runs out.
Gameplay
Pikmin uses a gameplay idea that was experimented with in Mario 128. The player is able to select as many or as few Pikmin as they want and specify what task they are supposed to do. There are three different types of Pikmin, each with special abilities.
30 parts from the ship are scatter around the planet. It's up to the player to find each piece and bring them back to the ship.

Sequels
A second game, Pikmin 2, was released for the Gamecube.
