Octillery is an octopus-like Pokémon that was introduced in the second generation games. It is the evolved form of Remoraid.

Information

It evolves from Remoraid at Level 25. Octillery has a set of suction-cupped tentacles which it uses to ensnare its prey, and it also has a rocky head which it usually slams into its opponent as the finishing blow. If a foe is too strong, Octillery will shoot out ink to escape. Octillery usually live in gaps of boulders and holes on the seafloor due to instinctively wanting to bury itself in holes. They have been known to steal other Pokémon's nesting holes (including other Octillery) to sleep in.

In Pokémon: Emerald Versions, it could rarely be found by fishing with the Super Rod at the Safari Zone's extension. In Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, they could be found somewhat commonly by fishing with the Super Rod at Routes 213, 222, 223, 224 and 230 (being rare at Routes 223 and 230), Pastoria City, Sunyshore City and Pokémon League.

Octillery could also be caught at the Pokéwallker's Beyond the Sea course, from which it could be transferred to HeartGold/SoulSilver. In Black and White, it was rarely found by fishing in rippling water at Undella Town and Undella Bay.

Other Games

In Pokémon Channel, they appeared in the Secret Cove. In Pokémon Trozei!, it was found at Endless Level 6, Endless Level 23, Forever Level 55 and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, Octillery coudl be recruited at the sixtieth through sixty-ninth floors of Silver Trench and the fifty-fifth through sixty-fourth floors of Far-off Sea, and a non-playable Octillery also appeared in the game as part of Team Constrictor. In Pokémon Ranger, it was found at Safra Sea.

Octillery could also be recruited in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness at the first twenty basement floors of Surrounded Sea, the first eighteen basement floors of Miracle Sea, the first four basement floors of Deep Miracle Sea and the first forty-nine basement floors of Bottomless Sea. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, it was found at Eastern Sea. Octillery also appeared in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure at the Iceberg Zone.

• In the anime, one episode the Johto series featured a trainer named Marcellus who owned an aquarium full of Remoraid, one of which evolved into an Octillery while battling Misty's Pokémon during the Whirl Cup. He wound up losing, and the Octillery was shunned by the other unevolved Remoraid. The whole aquarium was later stolen by Team Rocket, and the Octillery was able to leave a trail for Marcellus and Ash to follow. At the end of the episode, the other Remoraid worked together to beat Team Rocket and evolved as well as a result, at which point they finally accepted the other Octillery. Octillery has also made other minor appearances in the anime and was shown as one of Harley's Pokémon during the Hoenn series.
• In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Octillery was shown during the Gold/Silver/Crystal arc as one of the Pokémon belonging to Ken, part of the Team Rocket Elite Trio.

Trivia

• Its name is a combination of "octopus" and "artillery" (due to its cannon-like mouth, which follows Remoraid's gun-like design).
