Gulpin is a gluttonous Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. Its evolves form is Swalot.

Information[edit]

Gulpin has a stomach that comprises most of its body, with its heart and brain being relatively very small. This allows it to swallow something its own size. Gulpin has also enzymes that can digest anything, including scrap iron. The price for this is that Gulpin will expel foul, overpowering gas during digestion.

It evolves into Swalot at Level 26.

Appearances[edit]

Mainstream Games[edit]

In Pokémon: Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald Versions, Gulpin uncommonly appeared at Route 110. In Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, it could appear at the Great Marsh after the National Pokédex was unlocked. In SoulSilver, it could appear at Route 3 during swarms.

Other Games[edit]

A Shadow Gulpin could be snagged from Cipher Peon Purpsix at the Shadow Pokémon Laboratory, and after being purified it could be traded to any of the third generation color versions. In Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire, it could be hatched from an egg, and Gulpin could also appear at the Ruby Field after hitting Lineone, with three Gulpin triggering Travel Mode. In Pokémon Trozei!, it appeared at Secret Storage 13, Endless Level 17, Forever Level 17 and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, it could be caught at the fourteenth through nineteenth floors of Buried Relic, and a non-playable Gulpin also ran the Link Shop at Pokémon Square. In Explorers of Time and Darkness, it could be recruited at Mystifying Forest, Mystery Jungle, Marine Resort and Happy Outlook.

Other Appearances[edit]

Video Games[edit]

  • In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Gulpin appeared as one of the Pokémon that could be summoned at random from the Poké Ball item. It would temporarily swallow any opponent that comes near. Gulpin's appearance was accompanied by a trophy and a sticker.
