NES Remix 2 (known as Famicom Remix 2 in Japan) is a minigame compliation game utilizing segments of various NES games that was released for the Wii U's eShop in 2014. It acts as a follow-up to the original NES Remix, which was released only months later.
Information[edit]
Like the original NES Remix, this game consists of challenges that involve completing segments of classic NES games, along with challenges that remix segments with more challenging conditions and elements from other games. NES Reimx 2 contains 169 challenges and features a different roster of NES games than the previous game, as well as two additonal modes. One is Super Luigi Bros., which is a reversed version of Super Mario Bros. in which the player controls Luigi (with his gameplay differences from The Lost Levels) instead of Mario. The other is Championship Mode, which is unlocked by obtaining both NES Remix games. That mode consists of timed challenges from Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3 and Dr. Mario that are based on the 1990 Nintendo World Championships and ranked on online leaderboards.
This game also featured Miiverse connectivity prior to its discontinuation.
Games[edit]
The following games are utilized for challenges:
- Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels
- Super Mario Bros. 2
- Super Mario Bros. 3
- Dr. Mario
- Wario's Woods
- Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
- Kirby's Adventure
- Metroid
- Kid Icarus
- Punch-Out!!
- NES Open Tournament Golf
The Bonus challenges also utilized Ice Hockey.
Legacy[edit]
Ports/Remakes[edit]
- The first two NES Remix games were included together in a physical Wii U release known as NES Remix Pack. In Japan, it was released on the same day as NES Remix 2, but it was not released in North America until the end of the year.
- A number of the game's challenges were reused in Ultimate NES Remix for the Nintendo 3DS.
Sequels[edit]
It was followed by Ultimate NES Remix for the Nintendo 3DS in November 2014.
