Tetris DS is a version of Tetris for the Nintendo DS. The game was originally to be developed by THQ, but when they canceled the game, Nintendo finished it themselves.
Gameplay
Tetris DS plays much like the original Tetris. The game can be played with the touchscreen or with buttons only. New to Tetris DS is the ability to hold a piece and use at a later time. The game also features Nintendo-themes taken from games such as Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Ice Climber, Balloon Fight, Donkey Kong, Excitebike, Dick Hunt, Devil World, and Urban Champion.
The game includes several different modes. Standard Mode is the standard Tetris. In Mission Mode, the player must complete certain objectives within the time limit. In Push Mode, the player can push their floor down by clearing lines and forcing their opponent's floor up. In Touch Mode, the player pushes around static tetrominoes to create lines. In Catch Mode, the player controls a central block and must catch tetrominoes as they fall. In Puzzle Mode, the player is given a screen partially filled and must clear all the blocks with the available blocks. Multiplayer is available for Standard and Push Mode.
