Marigul is a company jointly owned by Nintendo and Japanese company recruit. It's name is a combination of Mario and "seegul".
Marigul was founded because the Nintendo 64 was not getting enough third-party support. Marigul would let game studios focus on making a game by taking care of the financial end of things. The only stipulation was that they'd have a game ready in five years.
Many of the games that Marigul studios created never made it to America. It was liquidated in 2003, with Ambrella and Noise being the only divisions to continue developing games.
