Budewis a budding plant-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fourth generation games. It was added as the baby form of the third generation Pokémon Roselia. Roserade was also introduced in the same generation as Roselia's evolved form, which makes Budew the first form in a three-stage evolutionary line.

Information

Budew are only born to Roselia that bear Rose Incense during breeding. They live alongside clear ponds. It is sensitive to changing temperature, and its bud is said to bloom when it feels warm sunlight. During the winter, it closes its bud and endures the cold. The bud opens during the spring and releases the pollen which induces harsh sneezing and runny noses.

A Budew will evolve into a Roselia when it levels up with a high amount of happiness during the day.

In Pokémon: Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, Budew could be uncommonly found at Routes 204, 205 (Platinum only), 206 (Platinum only), 208 (Diamond/Pearl only) and 212, Eterna Forest and the Great Marsh (Diamond/Pearl only).

In HeartGold and SoulSilver, it could appear uncommonly at Ilex Forest and Viridian Forest when Sinnoh Sound was playing over the radio, and it could also be found at the Safari Zone's Rocky Beach and Forest areas if enough Forest or Plains objects were present. Budew could also be caught at the Pokéwalker's Sinnoh Field course and could be transferred from there to HeartGold/SoulSilver. In White, Budew appeared at the White Forest.

Other Games

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, Budew could be recruited at the first five floors of Apple Woods and Oran Forest. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it was found at Union Road, Ranger School, Chicole Path and Vien Forest. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, it appeared at Mitonga Road. It could be found in Pokémon Rumble at the Silent Forest. Budew also appeared in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure at the Flower Zone as well as at the Meeting Place.

• Budew have made several mostly minor appearances in the Pokémon anime during the Sinnoh series. One notable Budew was shown as one of Nando's Pokémon during his first appearance in an early episode and evolved into a Roselia within the episode.
• Budew's appearances in the Pokémon Adventures manga have also been minor, including the group's failed attempt to catch one at the Great Marsh.
