Floatzel is a powerful aquatic weasel-like Pokémon that was introduced in the fourth generation games. It is the evolved form Buizel.
Information[edit]
Buizel evolves into Floatzel at Level 26. It has a well-developed floatation sac which developed as a result of its pursuit of aquatic prey. Floatzel can carry people on its back when its sac is inflated, allowing it to act like a rubber raft, and so it usually helps to rescue drowning people. They also carry off prey. Floatzel deflates the sac before diving. They are a common sight near fishing ports.
Appearances[edit]
Mainstream Games[edit]
In Pokémon: Diamond, Pearl and Platinum Versions, Floatzel could be found somewhat commonly at Routes 213 (Diamond/Pearl only), 218, 221, 222, 224 and 230, Fuego Ironworks and Victory Road (by surfing as well in Platinum).
In HeartGold and SoulSilver, it could appear at the Safari Zone's Swamp area if enough Water objects were present. In Black and White, they had an uncommon chance of appearing when surfing in rippling water at Routes 11 and 14.
Other Games[edit]
In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, it could be recruited at the first seven basement floors of Crystal Crossing. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it appeared at Vien Forest, Union Road and Crysta Cave. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, it was found at Oblivia Ruins and the Ice Temple. In Pokémon Rumble, it appeared at Bright Beach. Floatzel also appeared in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure at the Beach Zone.
Other Appearances[edit]
Other Media[edit]
- In the Pokémon anime, Floatzel have mostly made a few minor appearances in the Sinnoh series. Crasher Wake most notably used on in his gym battle with Ash, but Ash's Buizel was able to defeat it. Conway and Kenny have also used Floatzel in other episodes.
- In the Pokémon Adventures manga, a Floatzel was shown propelling Professor Rowan's boat in one chapter of the Diamond/Pearl arc. Another Floatzel was featured as one of Crasher Wake's Pokémon, and it raced with Platina's Empoleon, which ultimately defeated it. Another chapter featured Pearl trying to catch a Floatzel that was among a group of Pokémon that resented humans for the actions of Team Galactic, and he soon gave up to catch a Buizel instead.
