Luigi's Mansion Arcade is an arcade game based on Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon that reinterprets the Luigi's Mansion gameplay in the form of a first person rail shooter.
Gameplay[edit]
This arcade game features controllers made to resemble the Poltergust 5000 which each have two buttons. One is used for the Poltergusts's suction function, while the other button is used to charge up the Strobulb. There is another button attached to the console which can be pressed to deploy a Strobomb. As in most rail shooters, the game is shown from a first person perspective while the player character(s) moves on a predefined path, and players can control where the Poltergust is aimed by moving the controller around. Each player has a heart meter, and upon dying the player has to purchase a new credit to continue. Upon using a continue, the player temporarily gets a boost to all abilities.
Aside from the rail shooter elements, the gameplay is similar to Dark Moon. The Strobulb must be used to stun ghosts, at which point they can be sucked up by the Poltergust as their HP is drained. Players can also suck up coins and other treasures in the environment, and Strobombs can be deployed to stun multiple enemies at once. The game can be played by two players playing cooperatively.
There are three different levels available, with the third one only be unlocked by completing the second one. Each level is of increasing difficulty, and they are based on areas from Dark Moon, as well as each containing a different boss from the game.
Legacy[edit]
The idea of two-player cooperative gameplay would later be utilized in the 2018 3DS remake of the original Luigi's Mansion.
Sequels[edit]
The next Luigi's Mansion game would be Luigi's Mansion 3.
