Tabuu
Base Subspace
Debut Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Tabuu is the primary antagonist and final boss of "The Subspace Emissary" in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, manipulating the events of the game from the mysterious realm called Subspace.

Background

Tabuu hailed from a "vastly foreign realm" known as Subspace. His exact origins and motives are uncertain. He began a campaign to steal various locations from the Smash Bros. world to put together to form a new world within Subspace. He was bound to Subspace and could not leave it himself, but he used his leadership skills to set his plan into motion. One of the first steps in his plan was when he discovered a mysterious primordial substance within Mr. Game & Watch. He then captured Mr. Game & Watch and extracted the substance, using it to create the shadow bugs that formed his mighty Subspace Army. He then captured several robots from the Island of the Ancients in order to coerce the island's ruler, the Great Robot, into aiding his Subspace Army by providing R.O.B.s as expendable minions and making him the Ancient Minister of the army. The R.O.B.s were used primarily to construct and then activate Subspace Bombs, which would destroy the R.O.B.s setting up the bomb, much to the Ancient Minister's grief.

The Subspace Bombs, once detonated, would suck a portion of the world into Subspace. He sent out the Subspace Army to various locations in order to plant Subspace Bombs. With the acquisition of Meta Knight's airship, the Halberd, the Subspace Army had a form of transportation. Tabuu's secondary goal involved turning all of the world's heroes into trophies, most likely so that they could not interfere with his plans. To achieve these ends, he captured Master Hand and manipulated him like a giant puppet with chains of light, using him to influence the villains of the Smash Bros. world, particularly Ganondorf, Bowser and Wario, into aiding the Subspace Army. All three were equipped with Dark Cannons and sent out to attack the various heroes and turn them into trophies.

Ganondorf eventually met Tabuu after confronting Master Hand and seeing the chains of light that Tabuu was using to control Master Hand. Ganondorf then leaped up and attempted to defeat Tabuu, but Tabuu sent him rocketing back to the ground in trophy form. Master Hand was freed in the process and then attempted to attack Tabuu, only to be defeated as well. Then the small army of heroes arrived to challenge Tabuu, at which point Tabuu unleashed his off waves and turned the entire group into trophies. At that point, all the locations gathered merged together into the Subspace World. Tabuu's sanctum was only reached through a special door within the Subspace World that could only be unlocked by reliving battles with various bosses and defeating shadow clones of the various characters. Tabuu then attempted to use his off waves, but he was foiled by the sudden arrival of Sonic the Hedgehog, who destroyed one of his wings. Tabuu ultimately lost the battle. Although his ultimate fate is uncertain, the Subspace World then came apart with all of the locations returning to the original world.
