Debut | Wario: Master of Disguise |
Count Cannoli is a professional gentleman thief that appears in Wario: Master of Disguise as a recurring foe. Like the other characters in the game, he originates from a television show rather than the same world that most of the Wario games take place in.
Background[edit]
As the latest in the long line of the Cannoli clan, he had become a famous thief of great renown. Operating under the alias the Silver Zephyr, he pursued all kinds of riches with the assistance of his magical wand, Goodstyle. Thanks to the money his ancestors had collected over the centuries, he was also the owner of International Evil Concerns Inc., a company that supplied most of the gadgets that he incorporated into his work. among his most commonly used gadgets were the UFO Mad Hat MK I and Mad Hat MK II and his own top hat which was capable of creating a hot-air balloon to fly him around in.
However his deeds caught the attention of the incredibly jealous Wario who watched his television show. Desiring to be a great thief himself, he managed to transport himself in Cannoli's world just as he was preparing to loot the S.S. Caviar. Wario's sudden arrival knocked Goodstyle from Cannoli's hands and it was instantly taken by Wario. Cannoli attempted to take the wand back, but when Wario refused to hand it over and managed to trash the Mad Hat MK I, Cannoli attempted to arrange a deal where he would steal all the loot on the ship and give it to Wario in exchange for the wand. Wario accepted the deal at first.
However once it was discovered that a piece of the Wishstone was on the ship, Cannoli called off the deal. Hoping to prevent Wario from getting it, he set out to collect it himself. When Wario had nearly claimed it, Cannoli arrived in the Mad Hat MK II to stop him, yet Wario was able to beat him again and claim the first piece of the Wishstone. Though defeated, Cannoli was still resolved to stop Wario and continued to follow him. However he remained always a step behind Wario as he tailed him to the Smithsnorian Museum. However he arrived only in time to overhear that Wario was headed to Sneezemore Cave, though he was puzzled that Wario thought that Cannoli had managed to beat him to the museum.
He managed to arrive at Sneezmore Cave first and disguised himself as a snowman. However they had both been headed off by Carpaccio, who had locked the way leading to the Wishstone. Despite Cannoli trying to unlock the door first, Wario was able to figure out the secret before he did and locked Cannoli out after mocking his failure once more. With Wario headed after the next piece, Cannoli was approached by Carpaccio about making an alliance to stop Wario. After tracking Wario down to the Ancient Waterworks, he made a deal with Wario to give him the location of the next Wishstone in exchange for Goodstyle. He arranged to meet Wario as Sweatmore Peak. Rather than meet Wario though, it was their plan to cause Wario to get himself killed braving the treacherous volcano.
After Wario managed to survive the volcano, Cannoli lured him inside of Blowhole Castle. He had made an arrangement with the lord of the castle, the invincible Stuffy the 64th, that Wario would hand over the wand or be defeated by the Dolphinian emperor. Yet Wario eluded him yet again, thanks to the aid of his new female friend, Tiaramisu. Cannoli was forced to retreat to Carpaccio's lab. He prepared for Wario's arrival by setting up traps in the lab, shutting off the power, and preparing the new and improved Mad Hat MK III. He suffered yet another humiliating defeat and waited with Carpaccio for Wario to arrive. The two concluded that they couldn't beat Wario in battle, so Carpaccio arranged a different competition for the Wishstone. Whoever won a race would receive all the Wishstone pieces. Left with no choice, Wario accepted the challenge and despite his path being longer and filled with obstacles, he was able to beat Carpaccio.
While Carpaccio rushed off to get the next piece, Cannoli finally conceded that Wario was the better man. He revealed that Carpaccio's next destination was the Alergia's Gardens, where the last piece of Wishtone was hidden. Cannoli remained behind until Wario succeeded in assembling the pieces. When the newly revived demon, Terrormisu, prepared to kill Carpaccio, Cannoli made a sudden appearance and saved his fallen comrade. He then left Wario to deal with the demon.
After Terrormisu was defeated, Wario received his treasure from Goodstyle and returned to his own world. However Wario's Telmet didn't take the treasure with him and Cannoli arrived to find the mountains of treasure to claim as his own.
Gameplay[edit]
Battles[edit]
Mad Hat MK I
- In Episode 1, Count Cannoli uses the Mad Hat MK I to attack Wario. This version of it is a smaller model. Using this model, he will drop bombs on the ground, use a charging attack, and use the jet propulsion underneath the ship if Wario tries to crawl under him. A switch on the ship will sometimes begin to glow, which can be shot at by Cosmic Wario to stun him, which will allow Wario to follow up by jumping on him. afterwards he will charge Wario. After being hit three times, he'll be finished.
Mad Hat MK II
- The larger Mad Hat MK II is said to be a deity that protects the Cannoli family in times of need. Unlike the previous model, Cannoli is able to hide safely inside the top hat. This model also has the charging attack, which can be avoided by ducking. Using its large spiked fist, it can also use punching attacks. This time he can be stunned by shooting him in the mechanical hat's eye with Cosmic Wario. This will reveal a switch that can be hit Artsy Wario's ability to create blocks. This will expose Cannoli so he can be jumped on. Three hits will finish him.
Mad Hat MK III
- This model was upgraded by Cannoli's company based off the MK II. This version more closely resembles Cannoli and lacks the weakspot on the hat. This time it will attack by using the normal punching move from before, as well as a targeted attack that will attempt to pinpoint Wario to connect a blow. While in the middle of his rocket punch, his back will be exposed. Genius Wario can use his boxing glove to press in the switch on his back, which will cause the top hat to fly off and reveal Cannoli to be attacked. Once again, three hits will finish him for good.
