Gible is a small land shark Pokémon that was introduced in the fourth generation games. It is the first in a three-stage evolutionary line, with its evolved forms being Gabite and Garchomp.

Information

Gible used to live in the tropics. They avoid the cold by living in caves warmed by geothermal heat and nest in small, horizontal holes in the walls of these caves. Gible typically pounce to catch prey that stray too close. It attacks with its giant mouth and is powerful, but Gible can also hurt itself out of clumsiness.

It evolves into Gabite at Level 24.

In Pokémon: Diamond, Pearl and Platinum Versions, Gible could be uncommonly found in the hidden area of the Wayward Cave. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, it could appear at the the Safari Zone's Rocky Beach area if enough Plains and Rock objects were present.

Other Games

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, Gible could be recruited at Landslide Cave. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it was found at Volcano Cave. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, it appeared at Daybreak Ruins, Oblivia Ruins and the Dark Temple. In Pokémon Rumble, it was found at Rocky Cave. Gible also appeared in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure at the Cavern Zone.

• In the Pokémon anime, Gible was first shown at one point late in the Sinnoh series where Khoury caught one. Within ten episodes, Ash caught a Gible of his own and worked on teaching it Draco Meteor, which it eventually mastered. One recurring gag had Gible accidentally attacking Dawn's Piplup, although her Togekiss wound up deflecting the attacks back at him when she obtained it. Gible was later left behind with most of Ash's regular team when Ash moved on to Unova.
• In the Pokémon Adventures manga, a Gible appeared in several chapters of the Diamond/Pearl arc as one of the Pokémon belonging to the cloaked Team Galactic grunt who acted as Sird's stand-in.

• Its name seems to be a play on "nibble", possible combined with "ground".
