Glalie is a frozen orb-shaped Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. It is the evolved form of Snorunt, although the fourth generation later established Froslass as an alternate evolution of Snorunt.

Information

Snorunt normally evolves into Glalie at Level 42. It actually has a body made of rock that is hardened by an armor ice that will not melt, even with fire. Glalie can instantly freeze moisture in the atmosphere into any shape of its choosing and usually does so to prevent prey from escaping. Glalie will eat frozen enemies in a leisurely fashion.

Appearances

Mainstream Games

Glalie has not been found in the wild and can only be obtained by evolving a Snorunt.

Other Games

Glalie could only be obtained through evolution in Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams. In Pokémon Trozei!, it appeared at Secret Storage 19, Pair Trozei and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Ranger, it was found at Panula Cave and Fiore Temple. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness, it could be recruited at the eighth through thirteenth basement floors of Crystal Crossing. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it was found at Almica Castle. Glalie also appeared in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure at the Iceberg Zone.

Other Appearances

Other Media

  • In the Pokémon anime, Ash's Snorunt evolved into a Glalie late in the Hoenn series while battling Team Rocket at the Grand Festival. Ash made much use of the Glalie during the Ever Grande Conference and then left it at Professor Oak's laboratory before moving on to the Battle Frontier. During the Sinnoh series, Ash brought Glalie back for the Valley of the Lily Conference and trained it, but he ultimately did not use it. A Glalie was also featured in a Sinnoh episode belonging to a poacher who was trying to catch Snorunt and Glalie.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, Glalie was initially shown as one of Glacia's Pokémon during the Ruby/Sapphire arc, but she did not use it much. During the Emerald arc, Glalie was a rental Pokémon that Noland used during his Battle Frontier Pokémon for Emerald. It was his last Pokémon and fought Sceptile, ultimately losing.

Trivia

  • Its name is a play on "glacier" (due to its icy nature), possibly combined with "goalie" (a position in hockey, which is a sport played in cold weather).
