Nuzleaf is a wooden Pokémon that was introduced in the third generation games. It is the middle form of Seedot's evolutionary line and evolves into Shiftry.

Information

Nuzleaf evolves from Seedot at Level 14. They live in densely overgrown forests and are skilled in climbing trees. Nuzleaf usually live in holes bored into large trees. It sometimes ventures out of the forest to startle others. A Nuzleaf's weak point is apparently its nose, as it is said to lose its power if its nose is pinched, which annoys it. Nuzleaf can remove the leaf on its head and make it into a flute. The sound of its flute makes makes others uneasy and fills them with dread.

It evolves into Shiftry when exposed to a Leaf Stone.

Appearances

Mainstream Games

In Pokémon: Ruby and Emerald Versions, Nuzleaf could be found at Route 114, being uncommon in the former game and rare in the latter. In Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, it would rarely appear at Routes 210 and 229 if a Ruby cartridge was present in the GBA slot. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, Nuzleaf could appear in the Safari Zone's Meadow area if enough Forest objects were present.

Other Games

In Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire, Nuzleaf was found at the Plains in the Ruby Field, and one was also part of the table. In Pokémon Trozei!, it was found at Secret Storage 16, Endless Level 25, Pair Trozei and Mr. Who's Den. In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Teams, it could be recruited at the fifth through ninth floors of Uproar Forest, while in Explorers of Time and Darkness it was recruitable at Mystifying Forest, Mystery Jungle and Midnight Forest. Two non-playable Nuzleaf also appeared in the first games as members of Team Shifty. In Pokémon Ranger, it was found at the Sekra Mountain Range. In Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, it appeared at Chroma Road.

Other Appearances

Other Media

  • In the Pokémon anime, one episode of the Hoenn series featured the group getting lost in a forest filled with Nuzleaf which played tricks on them. Another episode showed several Nuzleaf living in a tree with Seedot and Shiftry, and one of the Nuzleaf required attention from Nurse Joy. One episode of the Sinnoh series featured a colony of Seedot and Nuzleaf, and a trainer at Gardenia's Eterna Gym also owned one and sent it as a messenger to her.
  • In the Pokémon Adventures manga, one chapter of the Ruby/Sapphire arc featured a Nuzleaf angrily leading various wild Pokémon against Ruby's Pokémon. Ruby's Mudkip battled the Nuzleaf and got it to retreat by pinching its nose.

Trivia

  • Its name seems to be a combination of a play on "nose" (or possibly "nuzzle", which is an action usually undertaken using noses) with "leaf".
