Yoshi's Cookie is a block puzzle game released simultaneously for the NES and Game Boy in 1992, and the SNES in 1993. The game was developed by Bullet Proof Software (BPS), who also published the SNES game.
Gameplay
Mario is baking cookies, and Yoshi is waiting to be fed. You move a cursor around, dragging rows or columns, in order to match up same types of cookies. More cookies come in from the top and right of the play area, acting as a timer. When a complete row or column is made, it will disappear off the screen, and any new cookies will be pushed back. The stage is cleared when all of the cookies have been eaten by Yoshi.
In puzzle mode, new cookies do not appear, but you have a limited number of moves to clear all of the cookies on screen.
Legacy
BPS unveiled a game at the 1992 Consumer Electronics Show called Hermetica. Nintendo acquired the rights for NES and Game Boy versions and converted the game into Yoshi's Cookie. Bullet Proof Software retained the SNES rights, but also updated the game to tie it together with the earlier titles. Bullet Proof Software published the title on SNES themselves.
Yoshi's Cookie was updated and released in the Gamecube compilation, Nintendo Puzzle Collection in 2003.
