Vyland is a playable unit appearing in 'Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi, Monshou no Nazo and Shadow Dragon.
Background
Book One
Vyland, Wolf, Sedgar and Roshea were simple plains people who were captured and sold into slavery. However, they were eventually saved by Hardin, and out of gratitude to him they joined the Aurelis army and developed a fierce loyalty to them. During the War of Darkness, the joined Marth's army with Hardin in Chapter 5 (4 SNES). After the war ended, they returned to Aurelis, and Vyland helped to rebuild. He also became a member of Wolf's Wolfguard after it was formed.
Book Two
Three years later, the Wolfguard was called into action by Hardin to ambush Marth's army at Adria Peak in Chapter 8. There was some skepticism towards these orders, mostly on Roshea's part, but Vyland maintained his vow of loyalty towards Hardin and refused to doubt him. He was either killed in the following battle or recalled by King Aurelis with the rest of the Aurelian knights. Even in the events of his survival, he is not seen again.
