Doshin the Giant is a god simulation released for the Nintendo 64DD by Nintendo. It was bundled with the system and is probably the most successful game for the Nintendo 64DD.
Story
On the tropical island of Barudo, there is a giant that appears out of nowhere. He grows larger by absorbing the love and hate of the villagers. He can take two forms, the Love-Giant Doshin and the Hate-Giant Jashin. The giant can only move while the sun is out. When the sun sets, he disappears for the day.
Sodoru is a wise man, linked to the past and the giants. He predicts that a disaster will occur if all 16 monuments are built.
Gameplay
The player controls a giant named Doshin. The player can use the giant to help the villagers by doing various tasks for them, or hinder them by destroying what they make. Good deeds are rewarded with hearts while evil acts earn the player skulls. Both of these increases Doshin's size.
On the island, there are four tribes of people. The goal of the game is to build various monuments for the four tribes that live on the island. There are sixteen monuments to build in all.
Legacy
Five months later, an expansion called Kyojin no Doshin Kaihou Sensen Chibikko Chikko Daishuugou (Doshin the Giant Rescue from the Front by the Toddlers that Tinkle at the Large Meeting-hall) was released. The expansion has a small child rescuing Doshin, who has been captured.
Doshin and Jashin are both trophies in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
